Renaie glanced around the room, the empty opposite side of their room a deafening silence compared to the photo-covered, shelf-filled side that belonged to them. oO I don't think I ever had a roommate. Not since I graduated the Academy. I think there were plans for me to have one on the Astraeus with Veylek? If I recall correctly? But nothing came of that as… ya know. Oo

They'd spoken to Alyndra, who'd suggested the Ops visit. The visit in itself seemed… successful?

The Ops crew mentioned they'd look into it, so that had to mean something.

Renaie may have overheard they could be getting a new roommate. One of the Rose crew, apparently. They didn't know the specifics.

A chirp from the doorchime pulled them out of their trance as they glanced towards the door. A young officer stepped in, a smile growing on her face.

Ślimak: Wow, ::brightly:: This is great! Way more room than my last quarters. You must be my new roommate, or am I yours.

Shortrith: Hey! I heard you were joining me. I'm Ensign/Doctor Renaie Shortrith, one of the counsellors here. Feel free to call me Renaie.

Renaie stepped out of the way, leaving a clear path for the new roommate to put down her stuff.

Ślimak: Dominika Ślimak, Petty Officer 2nd Class, engineering tech—but you can call me Dom.

She grinned over the crate she was carrying up at her new roommate, who was nearly a foot taller than her. Adjusted her grip on the crate, awkwardly extending a free hand to shake.

Dom awkwardly offered a hand to shake, which Renaie shook solidly.

Shortrith: Nice to meet ya. I take it you were assigned here?

Ślimak: ::shrugging:: Mm-hm. It's just where ops assigned me, sir. I don’t know if it's permanent, I’m just enjoying the perks for as long as I can. Look at all this floor space. You know, I had to share a bunkroom and a head with seven other crew on the Rosie. This is going to be great. Don’t you even worry about me, sir…you’ll never even know I was here.

She already seemed to be moving in. Renaie wanted to help her. However, Dom had already taken to the couch before Renaie could string so much as a sentence about it.

Shortrith: It's okay, Dom, and you don't need to worry about formalities. We're both off-duty, and we're roommates. I'm chill with you just calling me Renaie. ::pauses for a second:: Is that a Slavic accent I hear?

Ślimak: Response

Shortrith: That's so cool. I'm from Earth myself, too, born and raised in Australia.

Ślimak: Response

Renaie glanced at the crate and the duffle bag, then back at Dom.

Shortrith: Can I help you unpack? It looks like you've got a lot of stuff that needs to be put away.

Ślimak: Response
