((Poolside, The Farm, Endicronimas V))

Ian had happened to (almost literally) run into Ensign Shortrith on the surface of the Farm. He’d been thinking about catching up with the Klingon Counselor since the end of the mission but right now he was in the middle of trying anything to avoid thinking about it.

O'Connor: Hey, I don’t suppose you play zero-grav Australian Rules pickle-rugby?

Shortrith: Nope, I've heard of it though. People played it a lot when I was in high school.

O'Connor: Me neither, but it sounds like a great way to blow off some steam and get the mind off other things. What do ya say?

Shortrith: Yeah, why not. It'll be a nice break from everything, won't it?

O'Connor: That is exactly what I was thinking.

Shortrith: I suppose we'll have to read up on the rules then, won't we?

O'Connor: Aw c’mon how tough could it be?

Shortrith: Yeah. It'll be something new for both of us.

O'Connor: Absolutely,

(( An hour or so later, Zero-grav Australian Rules Pickle-Rugby court, The Farm, Endicronimas V))

Ian came to, seeing all the faces of his teammates through the facemask cage of his helmet hovering above him. Ensign Shortrith was saying something that Ian only began to make out.

Shortrith: --- Response

O’Connor: Yeah, yeah, I’m okay. Just got the wind knocked outta me.

A physical trainer and physician were telling him to turn his head and look into the palm light as well as asking several questions like where he was and who was the Federation President.

It was determined that Ian didn’t have a concussion but the trainer and coach were trying to find a diplomatic way to say that Ian probably shouldn’t continue as he stunk at the game and was likely to get pummelled again.

Part of Ian’s mindset told himself that with the way he felt about everything, he didn’t care if he got hurt; maybe he deserved to get hurt. Then he thought about the extra work and burden that put on everyone else needlessly.

He nodded to the medical staff.

O’Connor: All right, I guess I’ll hit the showers.

Shortrith: Response

O’Connor: No, no you should finish the game. You seem to be good at it. I’ll get changed and cheer you on for the second half.

Shortrith: Response

O’Connor: If you’re up for it we could try something else afterward. ::he smiled:: but, maybe you should pick the next activity.

Shortrith: Response

Ian floated off ‘til he hit the gravity zone on the sideline and then limped away to change before coming back to root on Renaie.

Shortrith: Response
