((Renaie & Dom’s Quarters, Sector 03, Deck 05, USS Ronin))

Ślimak: ::shrugging:: Mm-hm. It's just where ops assigned me, sir. I don’t know if it's permanent, I’m just enjoying the perks for as long as I can. Look at all this floor space. You know, I had to share a bunkroom and a head with seven other crew on the Rosie. This is going to be great. Don’t you even worry about me, sir…you’ll never even know I was here.

She already seemed to be moving in. Renaie wanted to help her. However, Dom had already taken to the couch before Renaie could string so much as a sentence about it.

Shortrith: It's okay, Dom, and you don't need to worry about formalities. We're both off-duty, and we're roommates. I'm chill with you just calling me Renaie. ::pauses for a second:: Is that a Slavic accent I hear?

Ślimak: Oh, if you're sure, si—uh Renaie, ::stumbling over the vowel pronunciation:: But yes! I’m surprised you could tell. I’m originally from Poland. It’s a country of Earth.

Shortrith: That's so cool. I'm from Earth myself, too, born and raised in Australia.

Ślimak: Ah, ::snapping fingers:: A fellow Earthling then. There was something familiar about your accent. I would have bet on New Zealand and lost.

Renaie smiled a little. While they were aware of the similarities of the two accents, it was a certain difference in pronunciation of vowels that were the key to telling which accent was which.

They glanced at the crate and the duffle bag, then back at Dom.

Shortrith: Can I help you unpack? It looks like you've got a lot of stuff that needs to be put away.

Ślimak: Oh, that? That’s mostly broken things, tools to fix broken things, and things I haven’t broken yet. So yes. Help would be amazing! You can show me where my stuff lives, and you can tell me about growing up in Australia while we work. Fair trade?

Shortrith: Sounds like a plan.

Renaie collected the items that Dom passed them, placing them on the shelving that was close to the door. They turned back to glance at her when their hand that was picking things up closed on air.

Ślimak: This is from my home city of Kraków. My Great Aunt painted these by hand. I’ll make us some herbata, Polish tea, while we unpack the rest, if you like?

Shortrith: Yeah, why not. I'm always down to try things from other places.

Ślimak: Water, hot—one hundred degrees Celsius. And a lemon, sliced into wedges. ::glancing back over her shoulder:: Oh—and how should I refer to you, Renaie? For the record, I’m her and she.

Shortrith: I use they and them, and I have a distinct preference for gender neutral ways, as I'm non-binary.

As Renaie spoke, they watched Dom make some tea. It smelled really good.

Ślimak: Got it! ::firm nod:: Also, if you have any broken tech or anything in our quarters that breaks, just let me know. I’m really good at repair work. I’ll fix it right up.

oO That was… easy. Oo

Ślimak: ::grinning:: Did you bring any interesting mementos from home to the Alpha Isles?

Shortrith: Just some photos and some books. Also some more personal items, things friends made me when I was younger.

Ślimak: Response

Renaie smiled as the smell of the tea wafted through the room.

Shortrith: What's your go-to drink order from the replicator when you're in a rush?

Ślimak: Response

Shortrith: For me, I suppose, a raktajino - typical enough, I suppose, 'cause I'm a Klingon.

Renaie momentarily turned back to their side of the room, finding a small hacky sack they'd hand-made with their spare time on the way to the Astraeus. Smiling at the memory of them making it, they turned back to Dom.

Shortrith: Do you like making things?

Ślimak: Response

((OOC: Just giving a heads up that I've changed Renaie's pronouns to solely they/them, as my mental concept of them changes.))
