((Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

It was becoming clear that Rox and Thessalonia De La Croix would not be friends.  The woman's hubris seemed to know no boundaries and she would condescend to no one.  No one was more knowledgeable, prepared or competent than she was and she was not going to value Rox or anyone else's input no matter what their experience.

De La Croix:  Well in that case he'll certain to listen to me, one Doctor to another, better Doctor.

Rox rose slowly and walked back to the desk where Thess sat.

Rox: Dr. La Croix I respect you a great deal.  I would love to learn from you. ::beat::  But do not be condescending about the men and women serving on this ship.

De La Croix: Oh you're a scrappy little thing aren't you.  ::A single, bemused laugh::  Delicious.  I like that, reminds me of...well..me.  Although I never flounced about quite so much.  Besides dearie, how could I be condescending?  I've barely spoken to the man and I certainly haven't spent any time thinking about him.

Rox leaned in closer.

Rox:  I have seen V'Len up to his elbows in another crewmember while the lights were flickering around him.  You may have a lot of letters behind your name, but when shit hits the fan we'll see how you stack up.

De La Croix: My dear, this may be difficult for you to understand but I became the premiere surgical authority in the quadrant when I was only a bit older than you are now.  I have performed procedures of my own design to mend damage the likes of which a...::she nodded dismissively towards the whole of sickbay::...lowly abattoir like this can't even begin to appreciate.  I'm more than confident I'll be able to dispense bandages and lollies with you should the need ever arise.  Now isn't there something you need to be doing...spinning a large light up wheel while bending over suggestively, perhaps?

Rox pushed herself up from the desk and turned to walk back to the station she'd been at.

Rox:  Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Rox did not look back at Thessalonia.  Much as she wanted to give the woman a sock in the teeth, the fact was now was not the time to be getting thrown in the brig.  Still she didn't like the woman's attitude at all.  So full of herself and so convinced of her superiority.  It was think the girl from Turkana IV had experienced more than once.  Am immediate judgement of her value based where she was form or what she looked like.

De La Croix: =/\= Sickbay to Doctor...Shortbread.  This is Doctor Thessolonia De La Croix. It seems you've forgotten to check in with me.  =/\=

Rox immediately got up, hoping Renaie would not respond. Rox felt a bit protective for the Lieutenant who, much like V'Len, had been thrown into the CMO role without much preparation.  She hurried back over to the surgeon.

Rox: Don't do that!  She doesn't need to check in with you, you're not in charge.

She ignored Rox completely and Rox could feel her cheeks brighten.

Shortrith:  Response

The condescending blonde gave a deep sigh and Rox once more wished there was a sock available, ideally one from the gym.

De La Croix:  =/\= Well try to be a bit more interesting next time and I just might be able to remember it.  So what's all this nonsense with the lights?  The candy striper you have working down here doesn't know a thing.  =/\=

oO Candy Striper! Oo

Rox:  ::hissing::  Dr. Shortrith is very interesting if you took 5 minutes to get to know them.

Shortrith:  Response

De La Croix scoffed once more, but Rox was pleased for the dig that Renaie had managed to get in.

De La Croix:  =/\=  Me, on a ship even smaller than this one?  I hardly realized such a thing existed.  What am I to do, nurse an amoeba back to health?  =/\=

Rox: I'll be in Ward C I've got charting I need to do.  ::Walking away::  Call me if you need something.

Shortrith:  Response

Rox did not expect to get a call, but she was pleased to be away from the woman.  She found a seat in Ward C and pulled up a file, but she could not focus on it.  She had worked hard, not only to become a good nurse and a decent officer, but to see herself as someone caring and competent.  Now she wondered if she deserved to be on the Ronin.  Dr. De La Creep had managed to undermine her in only a few short minutes, hitting her exactly where it would hurt most.  It would be idea to talk to Marty or perhaps V'Len.  TK Cabrillo was also an option, but at the moment it was likely all parties were busy with whatever was going on.  Rox knew it was best  to stay put for the moment.  She removed a small tear from one eye.  She couldn't believe she actually wished Beck was there.
