((Sickbay Complex, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
The situation in the Ronin Sickbay had devolved fast. One of the medical personnel was pacing, muttering under her breath, snapping back at her colleagues, a nervous energy shimmering off her.
Dom had seen this pattern before. The restless energy, the disjointed speech. The infection was taking hold.
She pulled her phaser that she had acquired from Corzy, set it to stun and blasted a harness beam over the heads of the two medical personnel deep in disagreement. The hum cut the air like a knife.
That got their attention.
She held up the canisters above her head, the faint blue luminescence casting a ghostly glow.
Ślimak: ::phaser in one hand, inoculant in the other:: Commander Kel sent us here to deliver inoculants for the plague! Those not already infected can be protected from the symptoms of the plague. Now, unless you’d prefer to argue yourselves into a coma, somebody start listening!
The two froze. The dark-haired medic, as short as Dom, slowly backed away, slipping behind a biobed.
Ślimak sighed and lowered the weapon. She huffed and tapped her foot on the ground, lowering the weapon.
Ślimak: ::to Corzy, muttering:: Honestly… Starfleet officers.
Rox: Stay Beck! ::shaking her head:: Back!. I'm warning you, I can kick a lot of ass.
Avae: Response
Rox: I don't care what's in that Beckister ::shaking her head:: Canister. I don't want it.
Corzy: ::whispering to Spot, the only thing that could possibly hear him:: They gonna' lose a whole nother ship to this vaporing. ::mouth wet, licking dry, cracked lips:: Eaten aaaalllliiivvveeee...::mouthed silently to the rat::
Dom looked at the other woman with the lavender locks. She seemed to be making slightly more sense, but there was time.
Ślimak: ::to Avae:: Are you in charge? Your Commander, the blue Trill, sent us over here with an inoculant. ::pointing to Corzy:: He’s got the direct injectable. I’ve got aerosol canisters. Works in a decon chamber. You could treat ten or fifteen at a time.
Avae: Response
Before she could finish, chaos ignited across the complex. The purple-haired woman lunged toward the console; the other leapt over the desk, shoving past Dom, who instinctively curled around the canisters. Corzy started mumbling, twitching violently, curling up on a biobed as the large white rodent he had rescued scurried around him. The other woman threw herself at the door.
Ślimak: ::in disbelief:: Oh, come on…Corzy, not you too!
She thrust the canisters toward the purple-haired medic.
Ślimak: Here you go, Lavender, just take it.
Avae: Response
Rox: ::pressing the door button:: Stupid Becking thing open! ::turning as the others approach and balling her fists: Ok. Come at me. Beck around and find out.
Dom turned to look at Corzy, curled in a ball on a biobed, and the other woman yelling at the door. She felt a strange energy flowing through her, burnout mixed with apathy hiding deep, welling grief that hadn’t had a chance to really hit. She knew she was a mess, but this poor lady was clearly losing it.
Ślimak: ::tiredly to Rox:: Look… I’ve had a very difficult day. My friends are probably dead or insane, and I’m definitely going to be in therapy for survivor's guilt for the rest of my life. I don’t know what your malfunction is, lady. I can see that you are not having a good day either, and I’d rather not make it worse by stunning you buuuut…If you don’t calm down…
She lifted her phaser and waved it suggestively at the woman.
Avae/Corzy/Rox: Response
Ślimak: ::raising her phaser:: Hey, hey, lady, please. Put that down.
Avae/Corzy/Rox: Response
Dom fired. Caught the raven-haired lady with a stun beam to her centre mass. Rox hit the floor.
The engineering tech exhaled shakily, scrubbing a hand over her face. Grief wearing heavy on her young features. She crouched beside Corzy’s biobed, exhaustion dragging her movements. Her phaser hand dangling limply to the carpet, the other found the distressed Trill’s trembling shoulder.
Ślimak: ::wryly:: Always wanted to stun an officer. Don’t give me that look, Lavender. She needed a nap. ::beat:: If you’ve got a counsellor, my friend here could use one. Maybe a meal, too.
oO Me too, actually. Oo
Avae/Corzy: Response
