Lt. Cmdr. Ian O'Connor- Maybe Let's Try an Alternative Therapy

Ian had no clue what he was doing there. He hadn’t slept or eaten since his release from sickbay. It wasn’t for lack of trying but he kept waking to the nightmares of reliving the horror of Zellu’s death. That did little for his appetite as well.

It was the call from his sister, Colleen, that convinced him that maybe he needed to leave his cabin for a bit and get some fresh air. He’d spared her the details when they’d spoken but she got the gist that something terrible had happened.

So he’d beamed down to the pool area and started to wander amongst the people lounging around. He noticed a group laughing and carrying on, clearly able to let their cares go. He felt anger building for reasons he couldn’t explain.

He looked down to see his hands shaking.

He brought them up to his face and took a few slow breaths. He quickly turned and was about to get out of this place but almost bumped into Ensign Shortrith, who didn’t seem to notice as they were talking to themself.

O'Connor: Woah, sorry Ensign. I almost ran into you.

Shortrith: Oh! Greetings, Commander. I… Many condolences about your friend.

Ian tried to keep a neutral face.

O'Connor: Uh, thank you Ensign.

Shortrith: How are you doing with everything? ::pauses:: Apologies for my annoyance, I'm just not the biggest fan of being here.

Ian looked at Shortrith and chuckled slightly.

O'Connor: I hear that Ensign. I’m not either…and to answer your question. Pretty crappy. I was actually going to try to find you later in your professional capacity.

Shrotrith: Response

O'Connor: No, no. It can wait. I don’t think this issue is going anywhere for a while. 

Shrotrith: Response

O'Connor: Hey, I don’t suppose you play zero-grav Australian Rules pickle-rugby?

Shrotrith: Response

O'Connor: Me neither, but it sounds like a great way to blow off some steam and get the mind off other things. What do ya say?
