((Xira's Temporary Quarters, Deck 5, USS Ronin))
Xira paused, watching Georgia momentarily with tear-stained cheeks.
Akani: What is it?
Holley: Nothing. I just… wanted the company. Are you okay?
Through tears, Xira shook her head.
Akani: I… I miss everyone. Everyone who died.
Holley: The Rose was a good crew.
Even though the infected crew scared her, Georgia was right. The crew was good. Even though most of them were dead now, and there was nothing left to say to them directly.
Akani: Do you… do you ever have days where the grief just hits you like a brick?
Holley: Sometimes, yeah.
oO Good to hear I'm not alone. Oo
Akani: It… feels like I'm being pummelled by bricks, if what I'm saying makes sense. H-how is it going for you?
Holley: I don’t think it’s processed for me all the way. I’ll be alright.
Akani: ::Quietly:: I wish it were that way for me.
Holley: ::nodding:: Do you want a distraction, or do you want someone to listen? Because I’ll try either way.
oO I appreciate the effort, but I don't know how you'd be able to help. Oo
Akani: Distraction, please. I definitely need one right now.
Holley: Response
Akani: You're here. That's important to me. You're my friend, I need you here right now. ::pause:: What else were you going to say?
Xira placed her head on Georgia's shoulder, enjoying the physical contact as if it were a lifeline for her sanity.
Holley: Response
Akani: I… I guess so? You'd probably know better than I do.
Holley: Response
Akani: ::exhales:: Yeah, you're right. It is like that
Holley: Response
Xira turned to Georgia for a moment, a small smile crossing her face.
Akani: ::voice still shaky:: Thank you for being here, Georgia. I appreciate you.
Holley: Response
Xira was breathing slowly, feeling the tears slowly drain from her tearducts. Her friend's presence was similar to a weighted blanket in a way, a drain for all stress.
She managed a small, weary smile.
Akani: I think so too.
Holley: Response
