Tucker: Okay, ensign, I figured we’d debrief and get your thoughts on the mission and how we can improve response times, etcetera.

Marty took a sip of his coffee; the Ensign didn’t seem all that confident for some reason or another. It was a terrible mission, dead. massive radiation fallout, Tholians, Sheliak, a lot to take in for someone fresh out of the Academy.

Wren: ::unsure:: I feel the mission went well, overall. A lot of emotional ups and downs. I’ve put in an order to have our probes replaced, and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to experiment on one of them? I’ve been working on a way to create more comprehensive scans using less bulky equipment, and I’d like to use one of the probes as a control group.

Tucker: Sure, and if you need any help, let me or Lieutenant Morgan know. As I’ve said, I encourage my engineers to do their own research and pursue side projects.

Marty had his side projects, which had really been neglected lately, and he was still going over the files they got on Grus Beta Three or more work on the Spider Bot that Morgan and Cabrillo worked on, and made progress. Wren nodded and took another sip of her tea. As she did, Marty took a drink of his coffee.

Wren: We…. at the academy, we discussed Sencha radiation when it was first discovered, and after what happened with the Lattice Alliance. ::remembering what she experienced in the shuttle:: I know one of Niac’s previous hosts discovered it, but… do you know much about what causes it?

Marty let out a small huff.

Tucker: Honestly? No, I do not; the Captain would know more than I or hit up the science guys a few decks up. They might be able to put you in the right direction. I wish I knew more, it’s an area I’ve just started paying attention to and trying to catch up on the research, but it’s hard to find time some days to even read one scientific paper on it..

Marty was trying to figure out what she meant. Was it personal?

Wren: ::clearly trying to move away from the topic:: As for the mission itself, I feel everyone did their jobs quite well. Although some work definitely needs to be done in regards to our communicators. There was a point when I was on an away team where we lost comms for a good long time because of the radiation.

Marty nodded and took a sip of his raktajino. He held the mug, looking at her over the rim.

Tucker: The things that Sencha radiation messes with are a long list; subspace distortions are part of it. Though I’m sure we could come up with some sort of booster we could install.

Marty had brought a padd with him and jotted down a couple of things before giving it his fingerprint. He looked up at Delphine, smiled, and handed her the padd.

Wren: Response

Tucker: Oh, that. It’s a few things I’d like you to work on, now that I know you have leave, and that's fine. As long as these tasks are finished by the time we pull out of here.

Marty drank down the rest of his raktajino.

Wren: Response

Tucker: They’re pretty easy, really. I’d like you to team up with Mister Evinrude in Ops to help you. There seems to be an issue with the gel packs on decks 10 and 11, so it’s messing things up on a medical and security level. There’s also a replicator issue on deck eight, in the port observation lounge.

Wren: Response

Marty gave her a smile. He was pretty sure they would fit in nicely with the rest of the engineering team. It was a tight unit, one of the most efficient in the fleet as far as Marty was concerned.

Tucker: Questions, comments, or concerns?

He drained the rest of his coffee and set the mug back on the table. He steepled his fingers and had a Cheshire grin.

Wren: Response
