Shortrith: Let's start with the basics: How are you going?

It was a reasonable question of course, but V'Len found himself having to think a bit on the answer.  Was he well?  There had certainly been a level stress with his current stint in command.  The stress of figuring out what the reactor was doing, the stress of taking care of the crew, the stress of thinking Niac and Raga might have been lost.  But that was over, successfully.  His promotion to full Commander had also increased his responsibility, and perhaps made his future a bit more uncertain.  He was reluctant to dump all that right out of the gate.  He came up with a more congenial answer.

Kel: ::glancing around the office::  Good, I think.  I was certainly glad to get away from Ross-580 without a fight.

Shortrith: I'm sure the feeling is reflected through the crew. I take it you avoid them where possible?

Kel:  As a rule, I generally shirk away from violence, but ::pausing::  I have found it necessary from time to time.

Shortrith: Fair enough. Any chance you could sort of tell me a bit more about yourself?

Kel: ::taking a deep breath:: Let's see, I'm a Trilldorian, but that wasn't intentional; I've had my cardiac muscle replaced with something we acquired off the black market; I have several voices in my head or at least in my stomach.  Things are pretty stable.

V'Len tried to sound funny as a way to diminish the severity of what he was actually explaining.  He wondered if it had worked.

Shortrith: So basically heart issues, an accidental species mix, and a joined Trill? That's… ::trying to find the right word:: Interesting.

Kel: ::shrugging his shoulders::  I suppose it's just another day in the life.

Shortrith: Those things aren't dissmissable, Commander. They're important to note.

Kel: Are they?

V'Len had grown rather used to the situation and he tried his best not to dwell on it.  In fact he hadn't specifically thought back to it in months.  He found himself suddenly uncomfortable and noticed his antennae were wiggling in a rather different way than usual.

Shortrith: If it's not too personal of a question, when was the accident?

Kel: Stardate 239410.25 aboard Cold Station 13.  I believe it was 1415 hours.

The response was curt, recited like a science or medical fact might be.

Kel:  I suppose something like that sticks in your mind.

Shortrith: Response

Kel:  What do you mean?  I guess ::stopping::  I felt confused, scared.  Everyone was running around there was a lot of chaos.

Shortrith:  Response

V'Len placed his palms on the table firmly.  He felt as if he was drifting backwards due to spinning quickly.  He knew he was still of course, but it seemed that his antennae had forgotten or were at least telling his brain something different.

Kel:  Oh I'm fine.  My antennae are meant to help with balance, among other things, but when they get moving too fast they can cause some disorientation.

Shortrith: Response

V'Len remembered the time he and Jack and Nesre had been walking in the woods.  It had been fun exploring the monastery and hiking around the grounds.  He'd found some interesting fungi and then quite suddenly he'd nearly fallen over.  He'd managed to catch himself on a tree, but Nesre had not missed it.  It seemed Renaie had not missed it either.

Kel:  They've always done this, maybe the Andorian and Trill physiologies don't quite mix right.

Shortrith: Response
