((Deck 09, Shuttlebay 01, USS Ronin))
De La Croix: =/\= Sickbay to Doctor...Shortbread. This is Doctor Thessolonia De La Croix. It seems you've forgotten to check in with me. =/\=
oO I AM NOT BREAD, YOU BLOODY SOURDOUGH HOT CROSS BUN. Oo
As they spoke, they noticed that Wren was dashing into the shuttle, and felt a small wave of guilt. It had slipped their mind that she was a Betazoid, and therefore telepathic.
Shortrith: =/\= It's Doctor Shortrith, and I set up a meeting to check in with you when you first joined the ship. It should have shown up in your notes. =/\=
oO Try to stay calm, don't let her get a rise out of you. Oo
Renaie groaned under their breath and turned and grimaced to the others.
oO This woman… Oo
Kel: ::raising hand:: Let the doctor deal with her staff. We can start the preflight checks.
Kessler: Response
Wren: Yessir, I’ll start running a pre-takeoff diagnostic.
De La Croix: =/\= Well try to be a bit more interesting next time and I just might be able to remember it. So what's all this nonsense with the lights? The candy striper you have working down here doesn't know a thing. =/\=
Shortrith: =/\= We're at yellow alert. There is some temporal stuff happening and the usual captain and first officer are dead. ::coldly:: And don't you dare speak about any of the medical staff like that again.=/\=
Renaie paused, a small smirk crossing their face. They gave a knowing look to the others in the room.
Shortrith: =/\= Actually, please meet me in shuttle bay 1. We're going on an expedition and I think your assistance would be appreciated. =/\=
Wren: Wait, what? ::poking her head out of the shuttle:: What??
oO I'm sorry, this was the only way to get her to shut up. Oo
O’Connor: ::Ian went wide eyed and mouthed at Jack and Kel:: Who the heck is this woman?
Kel: I believe that is our new Chief Surgeon.
Kessler: Response
Wren: ::desperately trying to stay casual:: Oh, she’s coming with us??
Renaie nodded and tried to give a sympathetic glance to Wren as they noticed her facial expression. oO I'll have to check in on her later, I hope she's okay. Oo
Renaie rolled their eyes as they heard a scoff over the line.
De La Croix: =/\= Me, on a ship even smaller than this one? I hardly realized such a thing existed. What am I to do, nurse an amoeba back to health? =/\=
Shortrith: =/\= We're conducting scans on the temporal anomaly with a finer-toothed comb than what the probes conduct. ::to Kessler and Kel, still on comms:: I've got that right, yes? =/\=
Kel: =/\= Quite right Dr. Shortrith. We'll warm up a seat for you Dr. La Croix. Shuttle bay 1. =/\=
De La Croix: =/\= Why of course, Captain, this will be a wonderful opportunity for us to dialogue...=/\=
Renaie picked up on a slight haughtiness in the other doctor's voice, which made the internal fire burn ever so harder in their chest. oO This woman is going to get a Klingon glare if I have anything to say about it. Oo
Wren: ::Poking her head out again:: Just want to clarify, she’s coming too?
O'Connor: :: rolling eyes:: This doesn’t seem like it will complicate things more at all.
Kessler: Response
De La Croix: =/\= I'll just pop back to my quarters to change. Shall we say....a half hour? Yes I suppose a half hour would do if I'm to rush. =/\=
Shortrith: =/\= I don't care, Doc. Get to shuttle bay 1 as soon as possible. Shortrith out. =/\=
Kel: Shall we?
Wren: Everything looks good to go on my end.
Kessler: Response
Renaie firmly ended the commline before smirking at the others, a glimmer of slight mischief in their eyes. The pretentious Doctor would actually get some field experience.
oO I'm sorry in advance. Oo
Shortrith: Well, it looks like we have a volunteer for the trip.
Kel: ::turning to Shortrith:: Well done doctor. You handled your subordinate very well. If they get to be too much, let me know. I'm sure Jack can be of assistance.
Renaie smiled in Kel's direction, before smiling in Kessler's direction.
O’Connor: And I think I have the perfect seatmate for her. ::gestures to Ensign Poagie who’s been standing in the shuttle hatchway::
Kessler: Response
Kel: Are we ready? I'll give La Croix another 90 seconds and then we need to go.
O’Connor: Let’s finish this up. Tweak those last 2 probes and I’ll put the front panel back together. Apparently we’re going for a ride. Oh, and freshen up before we take off. You play your cards right and you could be a Duke by the end of the mission.
Wren: I mean, if we’re ready to go, we can just-
After taking a fashionably annoying amount of time to be late, the summoned Chief Surgeon strode in. oO Come on, you don't own the place. Oo
Raising their eyebrows at her outfit, Renaie tried to remain calm at how overdressed this woman was. oO It's not like we're going on a Holodeck or anything, just science. Oo
Kel: Take a seat Doctor. We're just about ready to depart.
De La Croix: Ah yes of course, all of us roughing it today I see. Won't this be...::Her nose curled reflexively as she took in the crowd::...cozy.
Poagie: Don’t worry, your highness-ness, Cozy can be good.
O’Connor: Here we go everyone.
Renaie sat close enough to the front to see what was going on, but close enough to the back to peoplewatch.
Kessler: Initial scans indicate no other vessels other than our own in the immediate area. The interior planets could potentially have something behind them but I cannot see anything until we get closer.
Shortrith: It's pretty comfy, honestly. It's better than nothing.
Wren: ::as genuinely as she can:: Welcome aboard.
Kel: Doctors. See what you can see as far as life readings on those interior planets
Renaie watched as De La Croix glanced to Kel with not as much as a glance at the readings.
