((Deck 14, Chief Operations Office, USS Ronin, still at warp))

Ava's mother was a barefoot in the dirt kind of frontier girl. She'd been born, raised and would die on Naura IV as she was so often proud of declaring, usually when her daughter, and only child would try and get her to leave, even just for a visit.

Ava, as well as her mother's stubborn independence, had also inherited her work ethic. With that being said, Ava didn't enjoy having to clean up other people's work for them. The Chief of Operations office had become the Ronin's official dumping ground for things they didn't need.

Three large containers full of self sealing stem bolts filled the far corner. She was lucky she was able to see the desk for the various crates, tool boxes and other things that had been left to gather dust in here. Seemed even the filtration system had given up on the office.

Tucker: =/\= Attention, all hands. We’re experiencing a trailing power surge currently running through the EPS conduits. Please take a moment to log out of your consoles for the next few minutes. Thanks, Chief of Engineering. =/\=

Ava strained her eyes, she thought she could see a console behind some crates.

Munro: :: sighs and quotes her mother :: A job gets done by doing.

She unclasped the flap of her uniform and took off the top part so that she only wore the collared vest underneath. She'd need to get her hands on one of the nice Ronin shirts she'd seen some of the crew wearing.

She had started off so well; separating all the items into bundles of usefulness, and then determining the rightful location of them. Then she got curious and began to undo her own hard work by pulling out the contents of some of the boxes that she thought might be useful for some of the crew's various projects.

Before she knew it she was seated on the ground affixing power cables to an eclectic bunch of parts to create a mini version of a beardless Niac. The head had been crafted from an old outdated tricorder and she'd configured it to glow with lights; which made two angry looking eyes and a sad boy frown.

oO looks just like him Oo

She had lost all track of time when the door chime sounded off. Through the glass panel to the side of the door, she saw a man she recognised from a personnel file. The Ronin's chief engineer, Marty Tucker.

Munro: :: wipes her brow :: Come on in!

Ava quickly sprung to her feet, kicking a box in front of mini-Niac.

The door swished open and in came a tall man, with reddish hair.

Tucker: ::holding out a hand:: Commander Munro, I’m Marty Tucker, your friendly neighborhood Chief Engineer. Getting settled in okay?

She accepted his hand shake and was taken by how much he reminded her of her father; an old school former Starfleet engineer from Earth.

Munro: :: indicates the room :: It's going… Let's just say I'm managing to keep busy. I had meant to drop by but the last few days have been chaotic and you seemed like you had your hands full earlier.

Marty ran a hand through his unruly red hair.

Tucker: I’m just amazed to see this office occupied. We haven’t had a Chief of Ops since launch, so it’s good to see you. I’m sure our two departments will work well together.

Munro: Not too well. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition :: smiles cheekily :: Unless you're frightened?

Tucker: Response

Ava was glad that the Chief of Engineer seemed to have a good sense of humour, it was important that the two teams got along.

Munro: :: friendly laugh :: Don't worry we can team up against the scientists, I heard they outnumber us anyway.

Tucker: Response

Munro: Now … I'm hoping you can help me with something.

Ava kicked the box she'd used to hide mini-Niac aside.

Munro: I need some data chips if I want this little guy to walk into the Captain's ready room? Some upgrades we might get him to sit on the big chair.

Tucker: Response
