((Salt Caverns, Endicronimas V))
Georgia had been reluctant to come here. She still felt the fear of spreading a disease with no cure. Of making everyone around her fall apart. Shockingly she hadn’t had nightmares. Just a lack of dreams and a terrible amount of insomnia outside of it. She contacted her family. But she hadn’t really truly told them about what happened on the Compass Rose. She wasn’t ready.
She wasn’t ready for the worry and the concern. And the idea that everyone would move on from it while she stayed in those moments. Maybe forever. Maybe it would never go away.
And yet there wasn’t much physical remnants of it all. The healing of this day and age really did a lot of work. Somehow she wished there were more. That there was more proof. That she wouldn’t have to sit there wondering in her heaviest dissociations if any of it had actually happened.
But she couldn’t stay shut in forever, either. A cave was a good start. Not too many people, but not none. A place to breathe. And if the doctors told her that she was safe to go out, then she’d hesitantly listen to them.
The space was nice, and it was warm. Comforting in a way. Beautiful pink walls. Space to breathe. And she didn’t have to contend with the immediate desire to wash her hands over and over and over. Not in here. She tried not to think about it, at least. She also tried not to think about where she was supposed to go from here.
Ensign Holley, instead, simply tried to breathe. Let the light humidity settle with her. So suffice it to say she jumped, startled, when someone spoke to her.
Dohna: Hello? Do you remember me? I'm Lieutenant Dohna T'Alia, I was an engineering officer on the USS Compass Rose.
Some part of her brain had blocked things out. But not names. She couldn’t forget names. Anymore. She didn’t want to forget names after all that they lost.
She was pretty sure she hadn’t talked to Dohna T’Alia much, but she did remember her. She did feel herself smile knowing she wasn’t the only one. That she wasn’t alone. She knew Xira had made it through as well. And Naledi, she had learned, made it through as well. Though she wasn’t sure if they were still around, or if they’d headed off somewhere.
Holley: Dohna T’Alia. I remember you, yeah. ::gesturing to herself:: Ensign Georgia Holley.
Any: Response
Dohna: It's good to see you. ::pausing:: I'm glad I'm not the only survivor.
Holley: It is nice to know I’m not alone. I’m sorry we had to go through it, though.
Any: Response
T’Alia was silent, and Holley wasn’t uncomfortable with that. It was hard to know what to say, really. She knew that very well. There were so few people he knew what they’d all gone through. And it was difficult to want to talk in any detail about it all. It was just nice to be around someone who understood.
Dohna: Are there drinks down here? Maybe something that isn't one of Doctor Beck's vitamin concoctions? ::laughs::
Holley: ::a snort:: God, I hope so.
Dohna/Any: Response
Holley: I know, he’s very nice. But he could do better about having some taste.
Dohna/Any: Response
There was another moment of silence. She wanted to ask if they were ever going to get through this. Get over this. But she didn’t want to bring down the mood.
Holley: So… ::she tapped her fingers against her leg:: done anything fun while we’ve been here other than this? I could use some recommendations. I haven’t really… gotten out much.
Dohna/Any: Response
