(( Bridge, Deck 3, USS Ronin ))

Keneth had some second thoughts as they actually began the maneuver.

Niac:  =/\= All hands brace for extreme forces! =/\=  Mr. Kessler, release when ready.  Mr. Nakada, put anything left into the inertial dampeners or we're all going to be a stain on the decking.

He juiced the dampeners with what they had left, but it was hard to tell what extreme force would be. He had never lassoed a couple million tons before. He had always been more of a runner anyway.

Kessler: Aye sir.

Nakada: On it.

O’Connor: Wait for it.

And maybe wait was the wrong term as the ship immediately began to spin. Keneth could hear the dampeners screaming out at him begging for the sweet release of a full stop. There was only so much acceleration … :: beep :: … 24 Gs?!

The viewscreen was spinning so fast that the blur of light was making him nauseous. He was unsure what O’Connor was even looking at. The force was making his brain mush against his skill, and pulling him towards the center of the ship as they spun and spun and spun …

O’Connor: N-n-n-n-o-o-o-o-w-w-w-w…re-leeeea-ssssee…

An alarming clang sounded as presumably the lock on the giant fragment released. A slap could be heard as the unspooling fibers of the cabling hit the deck. Much of their angular momentum had transferred to their payload so the ship was already slowing, but his screen still showed over 5 Gs of acceleration on the dampeners.

Niac:  Null....our....spin...

Kessler: Releaaaased!

The makeshift weapon hurled directly towards its target. Keneth tensed as he bumped little bits of power from the dampeners to the thrusters. If he balanced it just right, they could all keep from becoming salsa.

O'Connor: Response

Nakada: Mo-r-e thru-terssss!

To his relief though, the dampeners held. He quit tapping the console every few seconds and looked up for the first time in what felt like forever. It was just in time to see the chunk they had spun like the worlds deadliest projectile into the off-guard Alliance fleet. It hit a cruiser before causing a spectacular detonation.

Yet the moment of calmness was fleeting. The tactical alarms were ringing again and Keneth slapped the console in frustration. Were they ever going to take the hint?!

Niac:  It looks like Administrator B'Hab called for reinforcements...I think we're supposed to be flattered.
Kessler: :;eyeing the view screen:: What in the hel.....

His voice trailed off.

O’Connor: Response

Nakada: :: concerned :: Commander?

It took a Keneth a second too long to figure out what was happening, The Leviathan turned towards them, lightning rapidly building up along the spine of the vessel.  It would only be a few moments before a blast of Sencha radiation erupted from it and, in Ronin's current state, there was no surviving that blast.

Niac:  Gentlemen, it has been an hon...

There was no time to parse the sentence and a lifetime of regrets passed in the milliseconds that followed. As the explosive wave expanded, photons from it traveled the length of space between them and the Leviathan, hitting their external sensors. Miles of ODN cabling between there and the bridge carried them for the next few nanoseconds, before a wave of electrical energy caused photons to erupt from the viewscreen.

In those first milliseconds, Keneth thought about trees, and the Earth. His sister, safe on some distant world. His mother, teaching a class on Tunisian Turnips. His dad, and a disappointing, dead legacy. His brother, a faint, shimmering memory.

And then, somewhere in the nanoseconds between the sensors and the screen, he thought about Starfleet. He thought about the Academy. He thought about the late nights and the interminable repairs. He thought about diplomacy, love and war. Most of all, he thought about a mission he believed in. In that moment, much of his doubt seemed to recede. Maybe not forever, but for now, he knew why he was here. Who knew he could think so much?

And then he flew, out of his seat he thought. He caught hold of … something? There went his other arm, a terrible pain radiating out of the socket, so bad he could barely feel it. And just as he thought it was over, he came back to reality. He landed on the floor with a painful thud and somehow jimmied himself up.

Kessler: Narhelion to the rescue! fly baby, fly.

Apparently – and he was far too disoriented to understand precisely what was happening – the Narhelion was speeding them along for a ride.

O’Connor/Niac: Response

Nakada: :: dumbly :: We’re moving really fast.

Kessler: ::getting fully seated and tapping at his console:: Sir, Narhelions speed is too great for the Alliance. They can't keep up.

The man was right, they were accelerating incredibly fast. The enemy was still recouping after the mess that was Entire Fleet vs Ronin.

Nakada: Out of range for … well, anything in four seconds.

O’Connor/Niac: Response

Jack then glanced over to Nakada and through the Ensign a beaming smile. Keneth smiled back weakly. The captain and his beard were as calm and collected as ever. Perhaps he should grow his own beard out. He scratched it absentmindedly. Perhaps a trim instead?

Kessler: Looks like we're headed wherever Narhelion is going.

O’Connor/Niac: Response

Nakada: :: rhetorically, in desperate need of medical attention :: The adventures never end, do they?

Kessler: ::turning back to the view screen:: My guess. Somewhere no one in Starfleet has been before.
