((CMO's Office, Sickbay Complex, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

Renaie was, slowly, beginning to make the office that they'd, for lack of a better word, inherited, from Doctor Beck, at least while he was out of commission.

They still replayed what Niac and Wyla had said, almost as if it was a valuable moment in their career that could shatter at as much as a misstep.

oO You've only had this for nine days. Don't squander it. You'll be fine. Oo

Wyla was right, they've done this before.

Renaie would be okay. They knew what they were dealing with now, and they could draw on previous experience for dealing with difficult people (not including people they'd previously had heart-to-heart conversations with).

Standing up, they approached the replicator, ready to order a drink - not before they heard their doorchime go off.

Shortrith: ::to the replicator:: One Raktajino, double strength. ::to Cerisor:: Come in!

Cerisor: Hello, Doctor. I'm Ensign Cerisor Rylar. I've been assigned to the medical division here on the USS Ronin.

The raktajino appeared in the bay as Renaie turned around to smile at the new Doctor.

Shortrith: Doctor Cerisor! I'm Doctor Shortrith, nice to meet you.

oO It's almost like Starfleet had a feeling we were short-staffed. Oo

The help would be appreciated.

Cerisor: ::nodding slightly:: Thank you, Doctor Shortrith. It's nice to meet you as well.

Shortrith: Take a seat, make yourself comfortable. ::They gestured to the replicator as they took out their raktajino:: Can I get you anything?

Cerisor: I'll take a raktajino as well. I haven't had a decent cup since I was last on Bajor. The replicators at the Academy always seem to weaken the taste.

Renaie nodded, ordering another raktajino for him before passing it to him and taking a seat themself.

Giving a smile, they opened up his record on a PADD - they'd already read over it when they realised that he was aboard, but it was kept open in case they missed anything on the fly.

Shortrith: Here you go. I remember reading that you came aboard when we were orbiting Lolagi IV, how has your trip been so far?

Cerisor: It certainly has been. I was trapped in the lower section of the Ronin after the fighting with the Lattice Alliance. I was able to render aid to a few crewmembers injured in the battle. I didn't expect to be using my training so soon. The crew is now in Sickbay, but all the injuries are quite minor. They were very lucky.

Shortrith: I'd heard about that, and I appreciate your immediate aid. I'm hoping that we can get all who were injured are able to be fit for duty before we're sent onto whatever the next adventure it is that we're sent on.

Knowing how well the medical team worked, that wouldn't be too hard.

oO I need to check in on the two ensigns that got concussions on the bridge. Oo

Cerisor: Indeed. If you don't mind me asking, Doctor, I was curious when you became the Chief Medical Officer? If you forgive me for saying, we seem quite close in age, and it's unusual for someone so young to be running the entire Medical division. Not that I doubt your capability, of course.

That question, if Renaie was being totally honest, caught them a little off guard. Not that it wasn't a fair question, the new doctor had every right to ask it. They just weren't really sure of just how ready he was for the answer.

Shortrith: Well… two weeks, give or take a day.

They silently braced for surprise, not knowing how Cerisor would response.

Cerisor: Response

Shortrith: I was initially posted on the Astraeus last year as a medical officer, but due to the ship being taken back to Earth, Starfleet transferred me here in August as assistant counsellor. At the start of this year, I was Acting Chief Medical Officer and Counsellor while Doctor Beck, our previous Chief, was on Earth for Division 14 matters. When he came back, I took the opportunity to dual post as Medical Officer and Counsellor… up until two weeks ago, which led me to where I am now. I'm assuming this is your first assignment?

oO I said a lot. I'll shut up now. Oo

Renaie did feel a small pool of guilt in saying too much and possibly overloading the new ensign, but they hoped it wouldn't faze him too much.

oO Please don't hate me. Oo

Cerisor: Response

Sighing, they took a long sip of a raktajino and made eye contact with the other doctor.

Shortrith: Doctor Beck's currently in stasis alongside Narhelion's baby.

Cerisor: Response
