((T’Fearne / Syrex, Temporary Quarters, Level 17, Deep Space Nine))
Ensign T’Fearne took a deep breath as she reviewed the flagged names on her PADD for recertification interviews, a growing distaste for the task assigned by her superiors. It was her second official recertification interview, and she was determined not to repeat the mistakes she had made with Lieutenant Sadar. She would navigate the delicate waters of her job tactfully and not jump to conclusions. The crew’s safety was her top priority, which sometimes meant taking care of their emotions as well, though that was mostly the domain of the next officer on her list.
The next name on the list was currently the source of some trepidation. Since joining the crew, she had been advised to check in with a counsellor, a notion she understood the importance of but had yet to act on, thanks to an unexpected away mission and the urgent defence of DS33 against the Lattice invasion. Now one of the very officers she was supposed to report to was on her list. She hoped her tardiness had gone unnoticed.
With a slight pause, she tapped her comm badge, preparing to initiate what she hoped would be a smooth conversation.

She hoped she hadn’t interrupted this superior officer at an inconvenient time. She had heard through the station’s faster-than-warp gossip channel that the lieutenant had some sort of personal situation evolving—rumours about Dekas’s personal life ranged from a burgeoning romance with Captain Niac to plans for a comedic ventriloquist performance at Quark’s. While she chose to keep her pointed ear tuned to the pulse of conversations around the station for security purposes, she dismissed the wild rumours as none of her business.

I’m conducting routine updates to personnel records, and your file is on my roster for security recertification. I’ll need to ask a few questions to get everything sorted out. Would you be able to meet me at the station’s security office when you are off shift? =/\=

Her eyebrows went up.
T’Fearne: =/\= My apologies, Sir; I didn’t mean to intrude during a personal matter. :: She glanced down at the urgent priority flashing on her orders. :: Unfortunately, this update is flagged as quite urgent. Would it be possible to meet wherever is most convenient for you? =/\=
