((OOC: Previous referenced an earache in T’Fearne’s right ear, but have previously established it was the left, not important to the sim, just correcting the info.))
((Port Observation Lounge - Deck 10 - USS Ronin))
T’Fearne: Dr. Beck, I hope I’m not disturbing your break. :: offers a half-smile::
Beck: Not at all. Please, make yourself comfortable.
T’Feane scanned the lounge with practised ease, ensuring they were far from prying ears for a potentially private conversation. With a fluid motion, she took a seat across from the human doctor with the distinctively chiselled jawline. Something about his appearance reminded her of a main character from her academy roommate’s collection of vintage Earth holodramas, the show was called something like Incendiary Report…or was it Flaming Message?
T'Fearne: Thank you for meeting me on short notice.
Beck: So, tell me about yourself. What do you think is most important in your medical profile?
T'Fearne: As one of Ronin's primary physicians, I wanted to make you aware of my slightly unusual physiology. :: slight indifferent shrug:: The pitfalls of being a medical chimera - part Vulcan and part Betazoid or a Vulcazoid as my mother sometimes puts it. The parts don’t always add up, even with corrective genetic manipulation. I’ve undergone several procedures in my childhood to address these anomalies, though there’s nothing pressing at the moment. It’s just that some of the pieces are in unexpected places if you ever had to put me back together.
Beck nodded thoughtfully, her version of humour seemed to go past his ear. Either that or the comment had seemed tactless, considering he had probably had to put many of his friends and colleagues back together recently.
Beck: You might not know this, but I specialize in neurochemistry. I'm quite curious to take a closer look at your paracortex at some point. Your record mentions possible telepathy that you may not have tapped into yet.
T'Fearne::: with mild surprise:: That’s new to me. The medical staff at the academy just ran scans and suggested I didn't have the capacity for telepathic skills if I hadn’t shown them by now. You think that is something you could help me work on accessing?
Beck: That of course depends on how comfortable you are with that kind of study. Not something you have to decide right now, either. I am also little concerned about the ringing in your ear and I'd like to run some tests outside of the standard physical.
T'Fearne: To be candid, Dr Beck, I’ve had more than my share of neurology specialists by the time I was an adult, thanks to my parent’s insistence. :: pauses, considering:: I’ll think about your offer. The reason I came to see you was the ear discomfort.
Beck: How are you feeling now?
T'Fearne: At the moment, fine, but at seemingly random intervals, I am experiencing some… slight discomfort in my left ear. It's just distracting mostly. :: tugging at her eartip:: I realize Sickbay is particularly busy dealing with the aftermath of the recent mission. :: refrains from mentioning the specific casualties on the Ronin::
Beck: Response
T'Fearne: I think the issue originated from a training accident during a simulation at the academy. A fellow cadet, overly enthusiastic, discharged a pulse rifle near my left ear while I was managing a hostage scenario.
Beck: Response
T’Fearne::: mentally calculating:: I only noticed a problem at some point during the journey out to the Alpha Isles.
Beck: Response
With a final glance around to ensure their conversation remained private, T’Feane nodded to Beck and rose, ready to follow him to Sickbay.
((Sickbay Complex, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
As they walked side by side through the sleek doors of the sickbay complex, the environment piqued T’Feane’s curiosity. The soft hum of equipment and the steady rhythm of activity created an environment both high-tech and bustling with purpose.
T'Fearne: If it’s not too personal, can I ask what drew you to medicine and neurochemistry?
Beck: Response
