((Ensign Poagie’s Quarters, USS Ronin))
Ensign Poagie sat in dim lighting at the corner of his couch crocheting his third scarf of the evening. This one would be the last he needed to have enough for the shipment to the orphanage at the Theta 122 North Pole. The crate next to him was already stuffed with mittens and hats for what was supposed to be a harsh winter for those refugees. The padd on the table next to him displayed the invoice and shipping label with the return addressee listed as Lt. Commander Luxa Lorana.
His communicator beeped and he gave a disgusted grunt as he lost count of the row he was on.
Kel: =/\= V'Len to Om-Zora, Poagie and k'Oar-€l. If you're available I could use your help in the Arboretum. Our new Xeno-botanist has found something highly unusual. =/\=
Poagie stopped and pushed the yarn off to the side. The words “highly unusual” peeked his interest. Those words were sometimes synonymous with “potentially profitable.”
Poagie: =/\= Ensign Poagie, here. I’ll be down in a bit. Don’t sign any contracts ‘til I get there. =/\=
k'Oar-€l: =/\= Regrettinglyness Commander, this one has just begun an anti-parasitic scale renewal and polishing process. Once begininged it takes several tides to complete. However, if this is being emergency necessity, this one will available oneself. The crew will just have to excuse this one of appearance of being wrapped completely in the special kelp mixture.
Om-Zora: =/\= Response? =/\=
((upper level Arboretum, Deck 4, USS Ronin))
Poagie entered and immediately saw Cammander V’Len and another crewman standing beside a tree. On the tree was a bright blueish/greenish luminescent mass they were gesturing about.
oO Seriously? Tree fungus? Oo
He only caught part of their conversation.
Kel: … a hungry, cranky baby.
Wells: Response
Poagie shouted down from above
Poagie: Sorry to interrupt mommy and daddy down there but…That? That’s your highly unusual? A tree zit?
Wells/V’Len: Response
Poagie rolled his eyes.
Poagie: All right, fine, Fine I’ll come down and have a closer look.
Wells/V’Len: Response
He walked over to the corner of the walkway and took the one-person lift down to the main level grumbling the whole way.
Wells/V’Len: Response
Poagie ignored them and leaned in studying the blue-green glow. It almost had a pulsation or was it just his imagination. Then suddenly he turned back toward the other two scientists.
Poagie: What if we pierce it? Maybe we could make something useful out of its sap.
Wells/V’Len: Response
