((Salt Caverns, Endicronimas V))
Dom: Honestly? I think I’m done with space. Done fixing things that’ll just break again. ::voice tightens:: Boldly going… straight to disaster. It all just feels like a cosmic scam now.
T'Alia blinked. "Scam" seemed like a harsh word, but given what they'd experienced, T'Alia could certainly understand. Every cadet wanted to see the glories of the galaxy and few thought about the dangers. It was not logical to dwell on such eventualities. But now having experienced it, well it was something different.
Dohna: It's like the Emissary said, none of our experiences prepared us for this consequence. ::pausing:: I'm paraphrasing of course.
Akani: Everyone reacts to things differently.
Holley/Any: Response
She reached over to give Dominika's shoulder a squeeze.
Dom: Sorry, sirs—uh, El-Tee, Georgia, Akani. I just… feel bad about all of it. ::whispering:: About surviving.
Dohna: I think we all feel that way.
Dohna: I think we all feel that way.
Akani: Just call me Xira, and you're not wrong to do so.
Holley/Any: Response
It was hard to understand the plans the Prophets made and why things happened. In her logical mind, T'Alia knew it was a mystery neither she nor the rest of them could ever solve. It just didn't stop the mind from asking.
Dohna: The prophets teach us that we need to move on. We cannot exist here forever.
Akani: Hear, hear. The prophets teach a lot of things.
Dom/Holley/Any: Response
Even in a place as pleasant as the caves, their physical bodies would need to move. Also their minds would have to move past their experience. How was anyone's guess. Right now T'Alia very much felt like she was adrift with no anchor.
Dohna: What if ::she stopped:: What if we asked to join the Ronin crew?
Akani: That's what I'm planning on doing.
T'Alia shook her head, Xira had already said as much. She blamed the lapse on the recent trauma and hoped that Xira would not hold it against her.
Dom/Holley/Any: Response
Dohna: ::gently offering:: We'd know where we were. We'd have a purpose then.
Akani: We'd be still able to do what we've been doing before this… I'm gonna call it what it is, a plague, with support systems in place.
Dom/Holley/Any: Response
The idea of a support system made a lot of sense. T'Alia of course would have her parents and brother, but how much would they really understand compared to these fellow survivors. Her parents could sympathize, perhaps even empathize, but they could never understand her the way these three would.
Akani: And… I feel like I owe it to the two people who helped me. Lieutenant Syrex and Lieutenant JG Om-Zora. They were nice, and Om-Zora helped out when I had a panic attack.
Dohna: I can't say that I met Om-Zora, but I wouldn't be here if that science officer, Commander Kel hadn't shown up when he did.
Dom/Holley/Any: Response
Akani: They helped Georgia, too.
T'Alia watched Xira give Georgia a hug. Given her partial Vulcan heritage such displays were less normal for her. For now she used words.
Dohna: It is not logical for us to blame ourselves. We did what we could under the circumstances. No one could ask for more than that.
She tried to sound upbeat and calm, but the truth was she had never attempted Kolinahr. She felt the fear creep back in. It was as if she was right back in the hallway struggling against her body even as the rest of the crew fell apart. She felt her eyes getting watery.
Dom/Holley/Any: Response
Akani: They… They didn't leave us.
T'Alia honestly was not sure what to say and so for the next few minutes, she said nothing, but felt a steady stream of tears roll down her cheeks. Her mother would surely find it strange that this activity, crying, made her feel somehow better. Then again her mother was very smart, perhaps she'd understand better than T'Alia gave her credit for.
Dom/Holley/Any: Response
As her tears subsided, T'Alia found herself wanting it to continue, but the time had passed and now she felt strangely calm. No doubt the result of endorphins being released. She took a deep breath.
Dohna: I don't know how to say this, but now I'm hungry.
Akani/Dom/Holley/Any: Response
Dohna: Well I wouldn't say no to some hasprit. What about you Xira? Is hasprit a comfort food for you as well?
Akani/Dom/Holley/Any: Response
Dohna: My father likes it extra spicy. I can't even eat it when my grandmother makes it.
T'Alia felt her tongue tingle at the thought of her grandmother's very spicy cooking. She needed extra water whenever she ate with them and her mother needed to take an antacid beforehand.
