((Cold Storage Locker B-634, Science Lab 9, Deck 46, Starbase 821, Alpha Isles))
Irvin’s nose always itched when he was trapped in an environmental suit. This time was no different so, as always, he focused on finishing up his task as quickly as possible.
A transparent five gallon bucket sat on the table with several smaller containers next to it. All were labeled “Sample 789733256” but the smaller container also had the designations -A, -B, -C, -D, and -E at the end respectively.
A plethora of experiments had been conducted on the various samples of the sticky dark fluid that had once been known as Lt. Cmdr. Zellu. Now several Starfleet and other Federation science teams would now spend months analyzing the results.
At the moment, Irvin tried not to think about the fact that these buckets were all that was now left of the Bolian officer who’d died a gruesome death. His nose twitched again. All he needed to do was finish sealing each container and store it away onto the proper freezer shelves. Despite his discomfort, Irvin still performed these duties diligently.
Lids were locked down and seals checked. Codes were verified as the smaller samples would be shipped to other locations such as the Vulcan Science Academy or the Antedian Science Aquarium.
He placed them all into their respective locations but in his haste to finish up, he failed to notice an oddity in the last container. Irvin was oblivious to the slight quivering motion of the fluid in Sample D.
