((OOC - This turned out a little bit heavier than what I meant for it to when I started.))
((Salt Caverns, Endicronimas V))
T'Alia cautiously entered the cave. The warm lights reflected off the pink walls that made up the caves. The smell of salt was heavy in the air and it reminded her of a day at the beach back on Bajor. The cavern was warm due to geothermal springs further down in the cave system. There were warm pools down there and even hot rock therapy, but here there was merely a dry warmth that was comfortable but not sweltering.
In truth, T'Alia would have preferred a sunny day at the beach, but she was only 3 weeks out from her infection. Her skin had been badly damaged and at this time a trip to the beach was likely to result in painful burns. It was difficult for the Bajoran/Vulcan hybrid to adjust to the idea. She had been in Vulcan's deserts several times, but for the near future she would not be able to return there.
The caves were a safer option, though it had taken much cajoling from her counselor to get her out of her quarters. She was still recovering both physically and mentally. The infection which had made its way insidiously into most of her organs had been hard to drive out and she'd needed prolonged treatment with several surgeries. She had been lucky. Captain Zallu and her sister Zellu had not survived. Other members of the Rose crew had, but she had not spoken to them apart from the briefest of hellos. She'd spoken to her worried parents, but said little about her experience or her current mental state.
She had not brought a padd to read or any kind of distraction, her intention was to sit in the cave for a minimal amount of time and then return to the safety of her quarters. However she noted others seated in the room and sat down on a bench. At first they were just other people, but slowly she realized that the faces were familiar. She leaned in tentatively.
Dohna: Hello? Do you remember me? I'm Lieutenant Dohna T'Alia, I was an engineering officer on the USS Compass Rose.
Holley/Any: Response
It felt strange, saying her name out loud. Others had said it, but it seemed unfamiliar to her. Dohna T'Alia was someone she felt like she remembered distantly, not someone she actually was. Her counselor had warned her about this. It would take time to reconnect to herself, it was a normal result of medical trauma.
Dohna: It's good to see you. ::pausing:: I'm glad I'm not the only survivor.
Holley/Any: Response
T'Alia was silent and then wondered if her demeanor was bringing the room down. She looked around. Apparently they had all decided that halotherapy was a good and safe place to start their recovery.
Dohna: Are there drinks down here? Maybe something that isn't one of Doctor Beck's vitamin concoctions? ::laughs::
