((Transporter Room, Deck 06, USS Ronin))
She was angry, but not at the Romulan. The rage was focused on the Tholian warrior now on board her home. There were now hundreds of lives at risk so she lunged right at the thing in a way that would’ve made Osiris proud. Knives out, she caught a glancing strike on one of its large arms.
The Tholian was no fool however and evaded as much as it fought back. What’s worse, it continually moved to try and keep her between Soldu and itself. Evident when she went in for another stab and it grabbed her, momentarily holding her like a humanoid shield.
tr’Kharis: ::voice flat, irritation threading beneath civility:: I would prefer you not obscure my line of fire, Senior Chief.
Solana: When…this is over…we’re gonna talk about why my shipmates…are unconscious, Soldu.
Her tone was almost playful even though she was literally fighting for her life. Those white hot blades slammed into the Tholian’s leg, the one that was already wounded at the joint. The shrill resonating cry of pain it let out was deafening and hers joined it as a slender arm blade punctured through her left side in response.
tr’Kharis: ::voice sharpening:: Solana. Step back. Immediately.
Solana: Please tell me you…::cough:: Called for backup?
The Orion asked as she lifted up and slammed her knives in and out of that same leg multiple times. The two of them stumbled back into the alcove of the pad and struck the wall. Neither one seemed interested in giving any ground.
tr’Kharis: ::irritated hiss:: Yes. Of course I did. I am not completely incompetent.
As if hearing their conversation the door to the turbolift abruptly exploded in the middle and two of their Marines breached in perfect form.
Winters: Clear right!
While the arrival was a boon to her it put the Tholian at a further disadvantage. Especially since one of them had a phaser rifle they could actually get to. Hers was still slung over her back but since the Tholian had closed distance and kept them both at a hand to limb range she hadn’t had an opening to go for it again.
Singh: Drop and roll!
Solana: If I could I would!!
Able to hear them the Tholian made a good point of keeping her as a shield from the most dangerous shots her shipmates and Soldu could make. She tried to stab through the exosuit near its other leg but the damned thing lifted her up enough that her only targets were higher. That suited her just fine, she wanted to stab it in the face anyways. For his part, the Romulan discarded his phaser to grab one of its legs and hold it in place to give her people a better opening.
tr’Kharis: ::straining:: Now! Shoot it Now.
Winters: Going low!
Hearing that Jenta planted a boot on the Tholian’s leg and jumped up to try and grapple with its upper body and give them a clearer line of fire. Her curved knives sank through the suit and made for great grips as it flailed slightly.
Singh: You should not have come aboard this ship.
Solana: He didn’t, Soldu beamed it up.
For her part the Orion continued to lift out a blade and slam it into the Tholian every chance she got. The super heated blades were able to slice into the suit deep enough to actually wound the occupant, though she noted that they didn’t go as deep as before. Apparently the Tholian’s had made some armor improvements since 33.
She just slammed a knife into its chestplate when she felt a tug on her EV suit and was pulled back. Leaving the one blade inside the Tholian’s chestplate, the other in her left hand itched to be thrown but she held off as she was pulled behind her friends.
tr’Kharis: ::breath sharp:: Arrg…there…there is your reinforcements. Senior Chief… you are welcome.
Winters: Get between it and the exit, now!
Jenta only let herself relax enough to register her wounds. She spared a glance at Soldu and noticed that he’d taken another hit. The Romulan was tough, that was for certain.
Singh: Computer, erect a level ten security field around the transporter pad.
Computer: =/\= Unable to comply, field emitters are offline. =/\=
Jenta, crouched by the transporter console and reached behind her. Her gloved fingers found the barrel of her phaser rifle and she rotated the sling forward until she had it in hand. It was dinged up, but seemed to still be functional. So she held it at the ready while the Major and Winters tried moving to block the exit.
Singh: Can either of you two tell me something useful...quickly?
Solana: The thing ambushed us as we were beaming out. I told Soldu to call for help, not beam us both onto the damned ship. But here we are.
tr’Kharis: Response
Winters: ::holding her fire:: Get back on the transporter pad. This will be the only warning.
The shrill shriek that came from the armored torso drew her gaze and the Orion, still raging full of adrenaline, leveled her rifle at the thing, her lone knife held in her left hand beneath the barrel of the weapon. At the ready.
Singh: In a few seconds you will be outnumbered and disabled. You could resist but I promise, if anyone else dies today...you will be among them. I encourage you to make another choice.
Solana: Maybe sooner than that.
tr’Kharis: Response
The Tholian froze in place and seemed to be staring at them. Jenta did not like this. Many saw Tholians as nightmarish monsters that ravaged mindlessly but they were far from it. They were nightmarish monsters, but it was their clear intelligence and complete lack of empathy or morals regarding life other than their own that made them so in her mind. Still, she grabbed Soldu and let him use her for support to move towards the door.
Winters: I'm wide open to suggestions, Major. Last time I dealt with these guys, they offered no surrender to our teams.
Jenta heard the footsteps behind them and knew they had backup but now there was a full fledged Tholian Warrior, even wounded as it was, on their ship and now the Major and Winters were in the line.
Singh: I believe if this one could've killed us they would've done it already. Back out slowly and make a hole for the security team. We need to get these people medical attention. ::She nodded towards the Tholian:: Surrender and no further harm will come to you. Resist and you die here, today, a failure. Choose wisely.
Solana: It’s already a failure. Couldn’t stop us from disarming your Sencha weapon you sent your workers to deploy. Just like you couldn’t take Thirty Three from us.
Jenta barely kept herself from pushing between the Major and Winters to stab the thing again.
tr’Kharis: Response
The Tholian folded in their working appendages and seemed to bow their head forward. No sooner did it do that than the security teams flooded the room holding enough firepower to disintegrate half the deck if they so chose. She didn’t like it. She didn’t trust the Tholian to not try and escape or damage the ship. It’s what she would do in its place.
They backed into the hallway and stepped clear as the first set of medics arrived with grav-sled, already scanning them over for injuries. Jenta let her rifle lower and remain at her side where the sling let it rest but the one knife she had left twirled on her finger. The combat rush was still there. For her part she had only a few punctures to her suit. Lacerations on one of her legs and several on her sides, no doubt making the inside of her suit look like a swimming pool from a horror novel. Bruising on the other hand. Even with the suit absorbing impacts Tholians were powerful, especially in their exosuits.
Singh: Are either of them going to die in the next five minutes?
The medtech made a sound that closely resembled a squeak in response to her tone but shook his head in the negative.
Singh: Good. Senior Chief, if you're not too busy bleeding perhaps you could explain to me what just happened and who that...::she gestured towards the wounded Romulan being lowered carefully onto the grav-sled::...is. Or do you still have enough blood in you to introduce yourself?
Solana: I’m fine, Major. ::she said curtly:: That’s the stubborn Romulan in charge of the facility we just beamed up from. ::she glared:: The Tholian attacked me right as we were beaming out, knocking me out of the transport. I was all content to fight the damned thing as needed. When I beamed on board I saw our people unconscious and him by the controls. So, I can only assume he thought beaming that thing on board with me was better than just letting you know I needed backup.
tr’Kharis/Winters: Response
Jenta glanced into the transporter room, where she could see their people struggling to try and restrain the Tholian who had locked his suit up in that protective position. She could still see her knife stuck in its chestplate.
Singh: Well done Captain. Perhaps I should have you take the Senior Chief through a refresher course on the use of a phaser rifle...since she often seems to forget to use one.
Jenta’s head snapped up at that and she exhaled sharply.
Solana: Tried that. It didn’t give me much choice, ma’am. The only reason I still have it is because of the sling. Bastard would be dead already if they hadn’t improved their suits since the Siege.
tr’Kharis/Winters/Singh: Response
The med-tech fussing over her repeatedly tried to get the Orion to remove her suit so they could treat her but she shook them off. Even though there was a full detail between them, that thing was on board partially because of her. She wasn’t about to let it out of her sight until it was secure, off the ship or dead. Preferably the latter.
Solana: It's locked up its suit. We’re not going to get that thing secure. We can’t beam it back down because we still have people there and I wouldn’t want to put them at risk. As long as it’s here it’s a threat to the entire ship. We should kill him and be done with it.
The curved blade of hers spun over and over around her index finger as she spoke, her eyes locked on the Tholian inside the transporter room, as if she was gauging distance. She knew first hand though that you don’t get near a Tholian when it dies. Their people would need to evacuate the room first.
tr’Kharis/Winters/Singh: Response
Solana: With all due respect ma’am, if we have a hostile ship threatening ours that’s all the more reason to make sure he won’t be a problem. If we end up in a battle and take damage the last thing we need is a Tholian warrior loose on the ship butchering our people!
The passion in her tone was one born of firsthand experience. She knew the Major understood, if in a different way. Singh had been in the cockpit fighting to defend DS33 and saw her own kind of horrors at the hands of the Sheliak and Tholians.
tr’Kharis/Winters/Singh: Response
Solana: Yes, ma’am. ::she exhaled slowly:: We should beam it into the brig instead of trying to restrain it. Assuming we can, we try escorting that thing through the corridors to a cell it could trigger the self destruct on its suit any time it thinks it's going to cause crippling damage. They did that multiple times during the Siege when we still tried to capture a few. If we're not going to kill him, beam him to a cell.
