Morgan: According to the archives and relevant research on the subject, the USS Voyager realigned its deflector dish to spread anti-chronitons and disperse chronitons that were causing all kinds of problems, including the return of a former crew member and aging backwards. So they used the deflector dish, reversed its polarity, and blamo::making a motion with her hands:: chronitons dispersed. I think this might be our best course of action.

Dohna: ::furrowing her brow:: How did they make sure the dish didn't go "blamo"?

Throughout Starfleet history, chief engineers throughout the fleet have most likely voided the warranty on their deflector dishes at one time or another. And as far as she knew, this was only the second time they’d be using the deflector in a manner other than how it was truly intended to be used. The deflector dish was there to push tiny particles of space dust, that if traveling at just impulse power would cause a tiny meteor to rip a hole in the side of the hull, you’d never make it out of Earth orbit.

Zh’taan: Response

Morgan: Yes, it’ll take some time to realign the deflector dish. The problem is, we don’t want to blow it out. We need to be careful with the controls when we fire it off, if that’s what we want to do. We could also use Anyon Emitters, but we’d have to replicate a mess of them and then attach them to the hull. So I say we go with option numero uno.

Dohna:  As a backup, Lt. Morgan, could we use phaser emitters?

Rachel considered the question and concluded that it’s possible but not recommended. However, she would need to do more research to provide a definitive or semi-definitive answer.

Zh’taan: Response

Morgan: Right now, Chip is manning engineering on the bridge. I’m not sure he has the qualifications for such a task, but we’re going to find out. Or we can notify the bridge and proceed from here.

Dohna:  I suggest we handle this from here. ::beat:: Strongly.

Chips is a good egg, an eccentric but good nonetheless, just not for this task. Rachel stood with her hands on her hips, looking down at the ship's display on the pool table. An anti-chroniton burst from the deflector dish should be fine.

Zh’taan: Response

Dohna:  Question.  The Intrepid-class starships have very powerful deflector systems.  The Ronin's is ::beat:: smaller.  Will it be enough?

Rachel had already mulled over that partifcular problems, she was right–Intrepid Class had a bigger and therefore more powerful deflector. So yes, the risk was greater, but it was better than nothing. Rachel ran her hands over the pool table’s LCARS, powering up the deflector. She was hoping they’d at least get two decent pulses out of it.

Morgan: It should be? ::she gave a tight shrug:: as I said, I think this is the second time we’ve ever used the deflector dish, in a fashion. We have the means to replicate certain parts of the deflector dish. But we sure as hell don’t have a backup; our backup is waiting at DS33 if we ever get back there.

Zh’taan: Response

She knew they both had concerns, and they were valid, but now they were at the point of no return. The deflector was slowly building up anti-chronitons that would disperse the chronitons present, though what it was going to do to the still-forming temporal black hole she wasn’t sure. And temporal mechanics wasn’t her strong suit, barely passing the class.

Dohna:  My only concern is that if we overload it by pushing out the chronitons, we won't have it to protect us as we're traveling at warp speed.

Morgan: We wouldn’t be able to do anything other than sit here; we lose the deflector, we don’t move. Even on thrusters, a micro-meteor could rip through the hull. I’m hoping to make both pulses omnidirectional, which will help.   ::looking up a Zh’taan:: I know we’re a bit away from it for now, but keep an eye on the forming temporal black hole.

Zh’taan: Response

Rachel nodded and resumed her focus on the deflector dish. The power and anti-chronitons were accumulating rapidly. In just a few moments, they would be ready to send the initial pulse. Which, if it all went right, would disperse the chronitons around the Ronin.

Dohna: What do we have it emit? You know to push out the chronitons.

Morgan: ::looking at Dohna:: Anit-chroniton’s.

Dohna/Zh’taan: Response

They were now about 45% of the way through releasing the pulse. Rachel fine-tuned the deflector as the energy levels rose. She crossed her fingers and toes mentally, if she blew out the deflector dish doing this, not only would they be stuck, it would be for quite some time.

Morgan: To answer your question from earlier, I don’t think we could use the phaser arrays for the aryon pulse. To do it, we’d be utterly defenseless. And I’d rather us not have our pants around our ankles if the Alliance decides to show up.

Dohna/Zh’taan: Response

While working on the console, she sent a message for whoever was in charge up there that they were about to fire off the main deflector dish.. She knew it wasn’t the captain; he was on the surface along with the XO, so who it feel to she wasn’t sure, and that was above her pay grade/

Dohna/Zh’taan: Response
