((Counsellor’s Office, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
Wyla’s concerns about “Doctor” Gott, which extended to more than his malpractice, considering how many items they found after the refits that were subpar and had GottCo logos on them, aside she was concerned about Renaie.
Avae: Yeah, it was comeuppance at its best. But, back to you. I can make it a medical order if I need to. Yes, the crew needs your guidance in staying as mentally healthy as they are physically but not at the sacrifice of your own.
It was that statement that made Renaie pause. They hadn't… no, they had never… prioritised any of their own needs over the ones of the crew. Either crew, really, of the Astraeus and the Ronin. oO What was it that August said? That I need to look after myself too? I'm not sure. Oo
Shortrith: I…
They drifted off, swearing in Klingon under their breath, hoping Wyla didn't hear.
Shortrith: I want to, but I don't know how.
The bubbly Antosian’s face lit up with a bright smile and she giggled softly.
Avae: Welllll, that’s easy! Just find a friend and ask if they want to hang out. Or, find something you want to do for fun and just go do it yourself.
Shortrith: I understand what you're saying, but… I’ve found a small group of friends, but I’m aware they have other friends. How do I make friends with their friends without being too weird about it?
Wyla placed her fists on her hips and gave Renaie a stern-ish pout.
Avae: You know there’s this thing called conversation. Supposedly, counselors use it a lot. ::she giggled:: Just say hi and start talking, or check the ship’s communal notices. I know Commander Raga has weekly climbing classes of varying skill levels for anyone to sign up for. Jenta has CQC training sometimes for anyone inside or outside of Security to learn to better protect themselves. Crewman Morales has bi-weekly Tango and breakdancing classes. ::she straightened and began counting on her fingers:: The Brew Continuum, Musashi and Forty Seven lounges always have people. Then there’s the ship’s various community groups. Jenta runs a Bat’leths and BiHnuchs game whenever we can actually get people together to play. There are music clubs and like four bands on board. I think we still have a theatre troupe but I haven’t seen anything for that in a while. Then there’s my Twibble Fan Club. ::she giggled again::
Surprisingly, she hadn’t rambled like usual and that was a little more cohesive and succinct than when she did.
Avae: Maybe they have something like fast boats or jetskis there. Ooo, or maybe there’s places to go scuba diving. Have you ever raced watercraft or gone diving before?
Shortrith: I haven't, no.
Avae: Hehe, sounds like there are some things you can try! I could go with you if you like. I don’t think you’re ready for skydiving just yet though. That’s a lot of fun, but for some reason a lot of people are averse to being shoved out of a shuttle in orbit.
Shortrith: I think I've been skydiving a couple of times out in regional Victoria… It was fun.
Avae: I loooooove skydiving. And base jumping. ::she grinned and whispered:: I may have base jumped off the top of Starfleet HQ when I was at the Academy.
Shortrith: ::playfully:: Wyla!
Avae: ::giggling:: What?! It was fun. But that wasn’t a no, sooooo, wanna come with me and see what fun things they have on Lolagi?
Shortrith: Fair enough… I'll make a point to do that.
Avae: Yes! ::giggling she fist pumped the air briefly:: Alright. Well, you should be good now as far as your check up goes.
Renaie smiled at Wyla, appreciative of her.
Shortrith: Thanks, Wyla. I appreciate you.
Avae: I think they’ve already got several of the hotels with rooms set aside for our crew so we can just pick where we want to go. Just let me know when you wanna go to the surface!
The Antosian beamed a smile and rolled on the balls of her feet a little.
Shortrith: I’m basically happy to do whenever you like as well. I just need to plan for free time between counselling sessions.
Avae: Yes! You better, or I will sick Doctor Beck on you!
She smirked slightly as she used the unofficial worst thing to happen according to Rox for the medical department. Which Wyla was sure was just a fun teasing thing. Beck was just a little eccentric right?
Shortrith: ::light-heartedly:: Nooooooooooooo… I don’t think Beck’s bad though, he’s been nice to me.
He had been. Especially with the offer.
Avae: He is! I don’t know why Rox and Thess seem to think otherwise. ::she giggled:: Oh, did I give you a Twibble yet?
She held up the plushie she carried in one of her medical coat pockets. This particular one sporting a Deep Space Nine uniform.
Renaie shook their head and looked a little confused.
Shortrith: … no? Is it similar to a Tribble?
Avae: Hehe, yes. ::she held out the Twibble which looked like a feline version of a tribble with ears and a tail:: It’s based off of a sort of in-joke from the old Atlantis, Chin’toka, Astraeus crew I was with. Serala, who’s a Captain now I think, has a daughter and the first time she saw Captain Mei’konda, who’s a Caitian, she couldn’t quite say his name and ended up calling him Captain Twibble. ::she grinned:: Wellllll, Commander Raga at the time happened to overhear about it and ended up having these made as a prank. And now there’s dozens of versions!
Renaie smiled at the mention of their former Commanding Officer, chuckling as they listened.
Shortrith: That’s a funny way to refer to Commodore Mei’konda, and that makes a lot of sense. If memory serves, Serala was Commanding Officer of the Chin’toka, as the Astraeus did a bit of a joint patrol on shore leave with them at some point.
They stared at the twibble for a few moments, smiling appreciatively.
Avae: Yep! We came here from the Astraeus! Me and Commander Raga and Jenta..oh, and Osiris too! We were all on the same crew, moving ship to ship before coming here. It was really hard to leave our family behind, but I’m glad we did. ::she smiled:: Because we have a closer family here among this crew.
Renaie smiled, remembering the conversation they had with Commander Raga last shore leave.
Shortrith: I’m glad to say I have a close family here too. I enjoy it here.
Avae: That’s great to hear, Renaie! We’re glad you’re here too. Even though we’ve had some people we launched with leave, every new addition just grows the family.
She was truly glad they were part of the crew. Though she missed some like Luxa and Kirsty and their honey badger the crew continued to grow closer and add to their numbers.
Renaie smiled and tried to resist the urge to pull Wyla into a tight hug.
Shortrith: I’m glad to be a part of the Ronin family.
She grinned at them for a moment.
Avae: You wanna hug again, dontcha?
Before she let them answer the question the Antosian pulled them into a hug first. Giggling slightly to herself.
Shortrith: … Yeah. You caught me.
Renaie hugged her tightly back.
Avae: Good thing I’m a hugger! It’s part of why I’m the president of the Twibble fan club! ::she giggled::
They smiled and chuckled.
Shortrith: There’s a fan club?
If at any point anyone had thought that Wyla’s bubbliness or her eyes could widen any bigger than they already got, they might have second guessed themselves at that moment.
Avae: Oh my stars there absolutely is and it was created about the same time I laid eyes on the first Twibble which was in front of Mei’konda and I think like a bunch of flag officers in the Brew Continuum on the Chin’toka at the time cause they were there for his promotion ceremony and he did not look happy but I totally squealed when I saw one and then got out of there as quickly as I could but then started begging for more different Twibbles and then started the fan club on the Chin’toka and went to soooooo many of the crew to ask if they wanted one and to join the club and why are you smiling at me like that oh my stars I’m rambling again!!!
Wyla clapped her hands over her mouth and blushed. She hadn’t rambled like that in so long.
Renaie smiled, slightly blushing as they got caught in the thrall of the infodump.
Shortrith: I’m glad to hear you’re happy. And to hear you infodump about things you enjoy.
Avae: Really?
She stuffed her hands in the pockets of her medical coat and rolled on the balls of her feet again.
Shortrith: Yes! You’re a valued colleague and I like listening to you.
Avae: Awww well thanks, Renaie.
Shortrith: Of course!
Avae: So, I’ll message you as soon as I get a chance to get some information about the resort for fun things to do. And thanks again for listening to me and also letting me listen to you.
Renaie smiled, accepting the Twibble from Wyla, as the smallest of soft pink hues crossed their face again.
Shortrith: Anytime, and thanks for the help with the arm. I'll keep an eye out for your message.
Avae: You’re also a good hugger, so don’t neglect your Twibble by not hugging it when you need one. I can’t be everywhere after all. ::she giggled::
They gave the Twibble an extra squeeze for good measure.
Shortrith: ::chuckling:: Fair enough.
Avae: Good! I know the Twibble is in good hands.
Shortrith: Shall I see you around?
Avae: Well of course! I’m almost always in Sickbay, silly.
She grinned slightly at them teasingly.
Renaie laughed.
Shortrith: I was meaning off-duty.
Avae: I know that’s not what you meant. But yes, I’ll see you around later!!
Shortrith: See ya!
Renaie waved back as they made their way out, giving the twibble one last squeeze.
