((Radiant Depths Marine Research Resort, Lolagi IV))
Renaie flopped onto one of the beds in their reserved room, the exhaustion of the long day finally catching up to them. The sunlight reflected through the water, dancing and casting patterns along the floor that seemed oh so soft. The bed was even softer.
The day had been full of counselling sessions, including an afternoon shift in Sickbay. Safe to say, they needed the rest. Fortunately, they were able to beam down to Lolagi IV with Dominika Ślimak, their roommate, to enjoy a few days together.
Renaie smiled as the knowledge of that, hopeful for an enjoyable time. They weren't sure what the two were going to do, specifically, but they hoped to discuss it when Dom was here.
They rolled over to face the doorway as they heard Dom.
Shortrith: Hey!
Ślimak: ::exhaling in relief:: Renaie, Hey. I found you. I got the room wrong a couple of times.
They arose from their bed and walked over to give her a welcoming hug.
Shortrith: You excited for this?
Ślimak: Hmm…shoreleave? yeah... I’ve booked us into a couple of indigenous marine knowledge workshops that caught my eye on the walk over…and then maybe we can check out the gaming scene here if they have one…but…::rubbing her temple with a pale hand:: oh Renaie…
Renaie's face fell for half a second as they watched her for a moment.
Shortrith: You okay?
Ślimak: ::swallowing:: I…don’t feel so good. I think I need to… lay down for a moment…Room spinning…
Renaie gently started helping their roommate over to the unclaimed bed, gently leaning her back onto the bed. They watched Dom, concerned, as she flung an arm over her eyes.
Shortrith: Any idea what could have caused it?
Ślimak: I don’t know what's happening, Renaie. I felt fine when I arrived a few minutes ago. Then the deck started spinning. I feel like the whole resort is tossing us around the ocean.
Shortrith: Ah, motion sickness. One sec.
Renaie retrieved their medical tricorder out of their pocket, and discreetly scanned Dom to confirm that motion sickness was the only thing that was causing her sickness.
Fortunately, it was.
Ślimak: I thought it would pass but it’s getting worse. Sorry about this Renaie. It’s not a good start to our trip, is it.
Renaie's hand was gentle but firm, rubbing Dom's back as a form of support.
Shortrith: It's okay, I've got you. We can move shoreside if you need.
Noticing Dom's panic, Renaie removed their hand from her back, and instead offered it as a stable point for her to hold.
Ślimak: Oh, Renaie, look out, I think I'm gonna rzygać.
Before Dom threw up, Renaie grabbed a spare hairtie off their wrist and held her hair back, tying it back so it stayed just in case. Fortunately, the collecting pot was a decorative potplant, which didn't look too great.
Shortrith: It's okay, I'm here, take your time.
Renaie gently took her hand in theirs, gently squeezing it supportively.
Ślimak: Response
Shortrith: Would you like some water? Some ginger? I know ginger helps with motion sickness.
Ślimak: Response
Shortrith: Okay, I'll go get that - will you be okay on your own for a few minutes?
oO If you're not, I'm sticking around. Oo
Ślimak: Response
