((Main Engineering, Deck 7, USS Ronin))

T'Alia was busily looking over engine performance data when her commbadge chirped to life.

Kel: =/\= Kel to Engineering. =/\=

Dohna: =/\= Dohna hear sir. =/\=

She'd not been contacted yet by the acting Captain, though she had been helping Ensign Wren earlier on the recovery of some probes.  Probes which seemed to have aged mysteriously and were heavily damaged even though they'd only been out in space for just an hour.  The whole situation they found themselves in was strange.

Kel:  =/\= Lieutenant I want you to prioritize getting the warp drive back online and functional, we may need to beat a hasty retreat. =/\=

Dohna:  =/\= Understood Sir.=/\=

The channel closed and T'Alia turned to go back to the pool table.  She was already working on the problem Captain Kel had mentioned.  At this moment the Ronin could not create a stable warp field and as such could not leave the system easily.  The best explanation at the moment was interference of some kind.  T'Alia was half Bajoran and half Vulcan and had tried both species approaches to problem solving.  She had applied the rigorous logic of her mother's people and when that did not yield results, she prayed.  No doubt her father would have told her to try that approach first.

Arriving at the pool table she looked across to see Lt. Morgan also looking flummoxed.

Dohna:  The Captain wants the ship to be able to go to warp.

Morgan:  Response

Dohna:  Well I'm sure I understand all the mechanics of why the system won't initialize, but I'm more than a little fuzzy on how exactly we solve that problem.

T'Alia looked down at the pool table once more and then a thought occurred to her.  She had met the Brew Continuum a few mornings prior.  An Andorian, as it happened, who was new to the ship and a science officer.  She had been struck by the confidence the new officer exuded and she felt he must have a very strong pagh.

Dohna: =/\= Ensign Zh'Thaan, please report to Engineering. =/\= ::she glanced at Morgan::  He's a science officer, maybe he'll have some insight.

Zh'Thaan/Morgan: Response

T'Alia returned once more to her diagnostic and tried to walk down where the problem was coming from.  It took several minutes and she looked up only when she heard the doors to the room opening.  She saw the blue skinned man enter and glance around and she quickly waved him over.  He was similar to the acting captain in skin color and antennae which wiggled on top of his head.  That's where the differences probably ended.  He had no spots and likely no worm in his abdomen.  Unless he had a parasite.

Dohna:  Ensign Zh'Thaan, over here.  Thank you for coming I'm Lt. Dohna T'Alia.

Zh'Thaan/Morgan: Response

Dohna:  We're trying to determine why the Ronin cannot create a stable warp field.  I thought perhaps fresh eyes would help.

Zh'Thaan/Morgan: Response

Dohna:  I'm going to go out on a limb and say it may have something to do with the Sencha radiation erupting for the surface of the moon below us.

Zh'Thaan/Morgan: Response
