(( Promenade - Port Side, Commercial Sector, Beta Module ))
A feline roar echoed an alarm from outside the storefront they were within, which preceded the sounds of an explosion and dozens of weapon discharges. The Alliance was assaulting their position again, in force.
Raga: Dammit, to the barricades.
He barked out already in mid sprint towards the door, rifle pulled from where it had hung at his back to be wielded and pressed at his shoulder ready for a fight. They’d managed to restock their EMP and other munitions as they had a stockpile in the FOP and yet those were dwindling. They had enough for maybe another hour and then it would be solely their sidearms and rifles. At least they had enough power cells to hold out for a while still. Toryn had rearmed with a case on his back that he thankfully hadn’t needed to deploy yet.
Toryn ran along the upper balcony of the promenade and followed the sounds of fighting towards the port side of the marketplace. En route he passed by Osiris, who’s rifle fired in quick, but measured shots. He knew that with each beam that burst from that long barrel an enemy fell to the sniper’s hits.
Kiran: ::yelling:: Fire in the hole!
T’Fearne: Nice throw, Chief.
He came to a stop with a grunt of pain near a barricade on the upper level that overlooked the battlefield. Easily three dozen Tholians and Sheliak fired upon their lines as they attempted to break through yet again. So much for a counter assault.
Raga: Hold the line!!! ::He shouted while opening fire on the front ranks:: They’re not breaking through.
Every member of Seiuri Team spread out around the upper level’s barricades and laid down intensive fire on the Alliance forces below. Providing valuable height advantage and overwatch for their colleagues who manned the barriers down on the main level on either side of where the walkway crossed over the open space.
Valo sprayed down at the oncoming push to which he heard their Kzinti warrior comment.
Briza-Kar: Good thinking, Ensign.
Kiran: Damn ::firing his phaser rifle:: They’re everywhere! Bunch of bugs.
A loud series of bursts made him wince as his left ear was buffeted by the sounds of a heavy phaser cannon they’d deployed on the upper level once the Tholians had gained a foothold in the promenade. The intense nadion bursts slammed into several Tholians with enough force to send them teetering backwards and blasted through their suits. Toryn only wished they had more of the things. In total they had eight such cannons and only two were on the Promenade. The rest had to be set up in other key positions, such as outside Medbay. One was down for repair and one had been destroyed when the Entrance Vestibule fell.
Toryn fired down at the assaulting force, his precise beams slammed into a Sheliak’s torso several times before it fell. He wasted no time in shifting targets to a Tholian, five beams slammed into its exo suit enough to cause it to explode. Which thankfully caught two others in the blast. Sadly, their suits seemed to be resistant to their own detonations.
Raga: Don’t let them get to the upper level!
A Tholian climbed its way up one end of the balcony. A brave warrior, the alien's eyes glowed with fierce determination. Valo sprinted to meet it, firing his weapon as he moved. The Tholian took immediate damage to its front appendages, fell from the edge of the balcony, and was lost in the throng of his fellow combatants.
Valo: Another climber on our nine!
When he heard the call he glanced over and spotted another climber, but trusted the rest of his team to handle it. Toryn leaned in and out of cover to fire down on the front ranks of Tholians and Sheliak alike.
Briza-Kar: On it.
Kiran: We can’t give this up, the Ronin and Khintomer are on the way to hopefully reinforce us. Because if we’re being honest, this is the ride. They cannot pass, not now, not ever!
It was a bolstering statement that caused a chorus of determined cheers and shouts from many of the surrounding Security personnel fighting alongside them.
Seeing their response to the climbers the Tholians adjusted their tactics and began to retaliate by sending more.
Valo: We have to find a way to slow them down!
Toryn watched as far too many climbers began to scale up onto the upper levels. Under other circumstances the mountaineer might have been impressed, but while he respected the skill itself he loathed the source. They were going to overrun their lines at this rate. The sounds of struggling pulled his attention and he watched as T’Fearne kicked a Tholian off the walkway and barely keep from going over herself.
Raga: Shift fire! Keep those climbers off the upper level. Cannon gunner, hammer that front line and keep them back!
He received a nod from the young Bolian on the phaser cannon before they adjusted their fire and pulse phaser beams scattered across the ground floor of the promenade, across the Alliance’s front ranks hard. A dozen Sheliak and Tholians dropped under the powerful energy discharges.
T’Fearne: Watch out, the carapace shoots some entangling beam at close range. :: discarding the ruined 3b rifle and pulling her phaser from its leg holster::
Several more Tholians began to climb up and over. But Breeze and the others kept firing on them.
Valo: I’m no engineer, but if these guys like it hot, our fire suppression systems are likely to at the very least make them uncomfortable. Is there a way we can trigger them indirectly?
With a glance at the Ensign then to Kiran he raised a brow as disruptor fire forced him back under cover and shook the railing he was behind. That idea had promise.
Kiran: If I can get past those three, I can. He pointed at the four Tholians parked by the panel. We need to take out those four, and then I’m going to have to go down there to reset the controls. I figured I’d drop the temperature. I’m thinking of freezing at this point. It’ll slow them down and maybe send them into some hibernation of sorts. What do you think, commander? Worth a shot?
T’Fearne: Response
He peered over cover to take stock of where Kiran pointed out and looked back to the Chief.
Raga: Good idea, Ensign. We’ll provide you cover fire Chief then get to that panel. ::to everyone else in his squad:: Focus fire, we need to clear the Chief a path to that panel.
Briza-Kar: :: nodded :: Understood sir. I'll provide cover, they won't get past me.
Kiran: Thanks big guy, I’ll need you to concentrate on those fourr ::he pointed them out:: Behind them is the access panel I need to get at. Who else can provide a distraction while I climb down and back up.
T’Fearne: I’ve got a distraction coming in 5 seconds, get ready to go. :: picking up the damaged 3b Rifle and setting the power-cell to overload:: Eyes and ears, now!
He quickly shielded said perceptive organs as the damaged weapon was tossed down towards their targets.
Raga: And I’ll fire a flash grenade ahead of you. So mind your eyes and ears. ::to Kiran:: Now go Chief!!!
BOOM!
Briza-Kar: Cover Rork!
Several disruptor shots forced Kiran to cover so Toryn leaned out and opened fire at their source.
Kiran: Alright, give me some cover.
Raga: Covering fire!!
T’Fearne::: Phase pistol zipping bolts of energy:: I’ll cover our flank.
Breeze/Valo: Response
Toryn watched Kiran’s progress intently amidst the fighting, taking cover when he needed to but he managed to make good time. The Al-Leyan leaned out and squeezed the lower trigger on his rifle, which shot out the flashbang grenade from the launcher right towards the quartet of Tholians ahead of the Chief. It slammed into one of their suits before it erupted in a cacophony of light and sound.
Raga: Breeze, get the one first on the right!
He fired at the one second on the left and between the combined fire two of the Tholians fell to the phaser beams that peppered their exo-suits.
T’Fearne: Be careful!
Breeze/Valo: Response
Chief Kiran paused a moment to give them a thumbs up after they’d cut the numbers he faced in half. Toryn couldn’t help but smirk at the gesture and continued to provide covering fire until several disruptor blasts forced him back down behind the barricade.
Raga: Keep them suppressed!
Breeze/T’Fearne/Valo: Response
