((Organic Tunnel, Posterior Dorsal, Unknown Cosmozoan Entity))
With a hand pressed against her side where recently healed ribs were still tender, Doctor Thessolonia Samantha de La Croix felt a quiet kind of tension she thought she'd long since grown beyond. The operating room had always been her domain...a grand theater within which she invariably took center stage. She'd operated on hundreds of species, treated thousands of afflictions and injuries and wounds, worked miracles that had won her awards and laurels and numerous pleasantly sycophantic hangers on. It was her place of power, the place she'd always felt at ease and in control.
Today, she felt nervous tension at the sheer scale of what they were attempting. Macrosurgery was the only term she could think of for it as she took another slow walk around the vast, complex wound Narhelion had so grievously suffered. Engineers may have looked and seen torn conduit or damaged data networks but she saw torn arteries and shredded nerves. She saw it in an abundance she'd never imagined in a living being and now, with paltry resources and the threat of violent attack drawing closer with each passing minute, she would have to act.
She stopped to take in a breath, staring up at the scarred chamber and horrible burns, and closed her eyes for a moment lest she become overwhelmed.
Kel: Dr. La Croix, are we ready to get started?
She drew in a sharp breath as her eyes snapped opened and she turned much too abruptly, a flare of pain shooting through her side.
De La Croix: Of course, I was just preparing my acceptance speech for the Carrington. I'll be sure to mention your assistance, Commander Ken.
Kel: Ok. Team our first job is to get this mess cleaned up. Lt. Velis, Ensign Wren, there's an interface over there, see if you can bring up some kind of schematic on how this section is supposed to look. Dr. La Croix can then plan our surgical strategy. Let me know when you have a plan and we'll get started.
She'd opened her mouth to give almost exactly those directions and closed it with a small click of her teeth. She plastered on a smile that looked vaguely authentic.
De La Croix: Very well, this way please, try not to step in anything, we're still not entirely sure what some of these fluids are but that bright pink one will definitely eat through a storage case.
Wren/Velis: Response
Kel: Ensigns Akani, Ensign Marsek, we'll start debriding this wound. Set phasers to low power, frequence 8.41. That should shatter these crystals. Don't do anything with these two ::gesturing:: I think they're plugging holes.
Marsek: ::carefully sets her phaser to the correct levels:: Aye, sir.
Akani: Response
The three moved off as Thess moved towards the indicated nodule embedded in the far chamber wall. It didn't appear to have survived the blast unscathed but neither was it as completely ruined as so much else had been. She gestured towards it and looked towards the two young woman accompanying her.
De La Croix: Are you one of those helpful mechanics aboard the ship? By all means, see if you've got a wrench that's fit for that...and then tell me if there's any power going to it. You there ::pointing towards Velis:: are you still in contact? If we can get this working, perhaps you can encourage our new friend to turn it on. We need...hmmm...schematics doesn't quite cover it. If I had a medical scanner the size of a starbase I'd perform a resonance tissue scan...
Wren/Velis: Response
Thess's lips curled up ever so slightly in surprise.
De La Croix: You can do that? Well then go right ahead! I want to get a holistic understanding of how things are supposed to work in this area...so I can devise a whole new way for them to do that with the tissue and spare parts we have. If we splice the wrong things together we could do far more damage.
Wren/Velis: Response
