(( Station Security Office, Promenade, DS9 ))

T’Fearne took up her role as the interview facilitator.

T’Fearne: Yes, Lieutenant. Thank you for coming on such short notice. :: unsure of an appropriate Mizarian greeting gesture, she merely inclined her head in greeting:: Please, have a seat. :: gestures to a chair across from her:: Do you have any questions for me before we formally begin?

Gila took the indicated seat, already shaking her head before fully touching down onto the firm chair.

Sadar: Thank you. And no, uhh, no questions. I, uhh, I-I’m so sorry about this, it’s not like the Artemis to submit faulty PADDwork.

T’Fearne’s brow quirked ever so subtly.

T’Fearne: That sort of information is typically above my purview, Sir. oO Interesting. Why do they assume it is faulty PADDwork? Oo, Perhaps you could direct your questions to Commander Carpenter. She may have more insight into the reason for your recertification. May I begin?

Sadar: Of course, uhh... M-My file is an open book.

Sadar’s voice sounded earnest, but T’Fearne sensed an undercurrent of unease. She was about to begin the formal process when a sudden thought struck her, and she changed the script slightly.

T’Fearne: Actually, Sir, before we begin the formal portion of the interview… :: Shifting her gaze to a hidden list of wildcard questions, then returned her keen focus to the medical officer:: I need to confirm that you are the same Gila Sadar, who attended the academy from 2397 to 2400.Aa recommendation note from Starfleet officers attached to your Academy acceptance file. Please tell me who this person is to you and how you met?

The Vulcazoid ensured her expression remained neutral, though inwardly she scrutinized Sadar’s face, unsure if Mizarian expressions and behaviour would register as truthful or…if she were a changeling, would she register any signs of discomfort or deception that the ensign's limited security training or admittedly unreliable empathic ability could detect.

Sadar: Captain Jaume Mata of the USS Indefatigable. He was doing a supply run to the Federation colony on Mizar IV, where I was staying, and, uhh... I-I was able to assist him with an incident with a collapsed mine.

T’Fearne breathed out, one wildcard question down. She noted a fleeting look of confusion. oO No lengthy pauses, but a slight hesitation on the details about the collapsed mine. Could it be a suspicious deviation in speech pattern or part of the individual's normal baseline? Now to let in the desert winds. Oo

Noting the behaviour but refraining from commenting on it without further verification, ensign T’Fearne reached to a device on the centre of the table between them as her slender fingers adjusted a setting. The closed door to the security office clicked softly but remained shut, a slight hum enveloped the room, muffling outside sounds and the light directed at the seated occupant brightened slightly.

T’Fearne: I have engaged additional security measures to ensure the confidentiality of our discussion and that we won't be interrupted except by a station emergency. :: voice firm:: This interview is being recorded in both holo and audio formats. T’Fearne Elaazni, Ensign, Security Officer assigned to The USS Ronin - NCC-34523 acting as interview certifier. Please state your name, rank, and current duty assignment.

Sadar: Response

T’Fearne: Thank you Sir. :: slight pause:: Have you ever had any business or personal dealings with an intelligent species that holds a grudge against the Federation?

Sadar: Response

T’Feanre nodded as the equipment did all the work of recording the Leutennant's answers, all she was officially required to do was ask the questions. She thought she detected an undercurrent of tension, noted it, mentally filed it away and continued. The next question was slightly awkward to ask for some cultures and individuals so she proceeded professionally. Hoping that the doctor would not be offended by the question.

T’Fearne: Are you currently involved in any ongoing intimate relationships with Starfleet personnel aside from those listed as your spouse/spouses or life partner/partners?

Sadar: Response

T’Fearne: To your best judgement, do you have any prior relationships that ended badly that could lead to a compromise in the security or safety of your crewmates or the Federation?

Sadar: Response
