((Type 4 shuttle, 12000 meters altitude and descending - Logali IV))
Evinrude: Are there any other places here on Logali that have what you're looking for?
He realized he hadn't yet learned just what it was Taj'el was studying, only that samples would be involved.
Taj'el: There are certain aquatic plants with known healing properties. I intended to test them and determine whether extraction is feasible.
Evinrude: That's...fascinating!
::He said earnestly.:: And potentially time consuming? When should I
pick you up? ::A beat.:: Assuming you don't have other plans.
Perhaps
they intended to transport to another facility here on Logali IV, but
Evinrude had planned to spend some time flying around in-atmo. It
wouldn't be an inconvenience to circle back, assuming the Type 4 didn't
encounter any issues.
Hands on the controls, he
leaned to the side for a better view out the side-facing viewport,
catching a breathtaking glimpse of the surface now that the storm cell
was behind them.
oO Flying is such a great way to familiarize oneself with a planet... Oo
Taj'el: Yes, a bit time consuming. ::soft breath:: Seems your shuttle is doing well.
Instead of answering his full question, Taj'el glanced toward Evinrude, giving him a brief, clinical once-over.
Taj’el: Can you swim, Lieutenant?
Evinrude: ::Momentarily taking his attention away from flying.:: I...yes, I can. Why do you ask?
Taj’el: We may need to acquire diving gear, and I will require an underwater containment bag.
Evinrude: ::His head tilted to the side slightly.:: "We"? How many are in your group?
The Vulcan straightened in their seat, eyeing an open area near the water’s edge.
Taj’el: Are we able to land there? It would likely be the most efficient location for transporting equipment and materials.
Returning to an all-business tone, Evinrude focused back on the flight controls, already running through a landing checklist in his head. He tilted the shuttle slightly for a better visual review of the area, simultaneously keying in a few inputs to the shuttle's sensors.
Evinrude: ::Leaning to the side slightly to peer out Taj'el's window.:: Looks clear to me. Sensors show...firm enough ground. Is that our site?
Taj'el: Response
Evinrude: ::Nodding.:: Taking us down. Can you switch to sensors? Keep an eye on meteorology and atmospheric as we get close - the storm should miss this area.
Taj'el: Response
Moments later, the Type 4 slowed and began to hover, descending smoothly downward. The meters ticked down until, with just the faintest of jostling, the shuttle came to rest.
Evinrude: ::Grinning, he allowed himself some pride.:: Another perfect landing.
Taj'el: Response
There were plenty of unanswered questions, but Evinrude had nothing better to do, really. He looked around at the beachfront and lush greenery.
oO And what a gorgeous place to do nothing! Oo
T'Fearne was busy, operations was caught up on their share of maintenance...perhaps, with no social plans or prior obligations, a swim would be good for him?
[End Scene for Evinrude]
