((Runabout Zambezi, Main ShuttleBay, USS Ronin, Ross-580 Gas Giant A, Moon Sigma))
Ian was checking the storage locker that contained the transport pattern enhancers and emergency forefield generator as the rescue team began to arrive. The Zambezi was already warmed up and running through a last diagnostic cycle focused mostly on the shields and deflectors. He steeled himself as he saw the team crossing the bay and heading his way.
Despite doing it several times now he still had apprehensions about leading away missions. He certainly wasn’t over the last mission and was concerned with hesitation and second guessing himself. Still he meant what he’d said to Kel. This was a good team and he was confident in their abilities, including their ability to keep him from making stupid decisions.
As they gathered he pulled up a holographic display of the “Unbroken Dome” facility.
O’Connor: Ok, we are focusing on search, rescue and recovery. Commander Tucker’s team will be trying to figure out what ::air quotes:: “went wrong” here. They’re putting down near this research building first before possibly heading to the broken dome. We’ll land over here:: points:: at the community building. Hopefully once we are on the ground we’ll be able to get better readings of lifesigns, radiation levels, etc. We’ll set up a small triage area and a transport zone with the pattern enhancers so we can hopefully ship any seriously wounded directly back to Ronin. Once we’re set we can start our search. Thoughts?
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
O’Connor: ::nods:: Agreed. I think these buildings might be housing. Probably be a good starting point.
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
O’Connor: Sounds good. We can adjust if we need to once we’re down there. Also on the way down, brush up on Sencha radiation if you’re not already familiar with it. Strap In.
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
Ian slid into the pilot’s chair, pressed the hatch controls and began lift off.
((A few minutes later, Runabout Zambezi, Ross-580 Gas Giant A, the “Good Dome” on Moon Sigma))
Ian easily avoided the bright plumes of radiation expelling from the moon despite the crazy readings the sensors were detectiong. He gave it a wide berth and circled around to their destination.
When they landed, the crew set out with precision to set up. Doctor Shortrith worked with Ensign Wren on beginning intensified scans for lifesigns, radiation levels, etc.. Lt. T’Fearne and Ian set up the physical equipment like pattern enhancers and generators. They all wore their EV suits “just in case.”
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
Ian looked around, it hadn’t taken long to get everything set and adjusted. He waved Shortrith over to him where they could speak alone for a second.
O’Connor: Doc, I also want to be prepared to evac Commander Tucker’s group quickly if they decide they need to go over to the “broken dome.”
Shortrith: Response
O’Connor: Also remember, medical trumps. ::Ian looked at her in all seriousness::I f at any point you feel I’m putting the team in harm from too much radiation… or whatever…stand me down. I respect your opinion, so don’t hold back.
Shortrith: Response
He nodded and gathered everyone back into the main compartment around the science console, bringing up once again the diagram of the domed complex.
O’Connor: Ok guys, what do our scans show? Can we pinpoint any life readings?
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
Ian frowned.
O’Connor: Well if that’s the best info we’ve got…we go with it. Let’s head out.
Ian linked the shuttle controls to the tricorder he picked up and headed for the hatch.
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
