((Turbolift, USS Ronin))
Kessler: Deck 11.
The turbolift started to move from the bridge on deck three towards it's destination and Jack was already trying to focus on the ships possible defense measures from something as large as this creature and with a power of unknown scale.
Venn: Do you have a personal problem with me, Lieutenant Kessler? Or is it simply because I’m in – was in – Intelligence?
Kessler: ::looking over to Venn:: Excuse me? Why do you ask?
Venn: I’m an analyst, Lieutenant. I have been trained to read people’s body language. I’m also part Rodulan, and while I don’t use my telepathy without consent, I still get glimpses of emotion. That, and your request to have the unredacted information all tell me that you have an issue with me. More likely, with Intelligence.
Jack paused and clasped his hands behind his back. His response needed to be professional and not personal. Niac would expect nothing less from his senior officers and Jack reminded himself that several times.
Kessler: Let's just say I have a bad history with Starfleet Intelligence. It will not affect this mission if that is what you are worried about Lieutenant.
Venn: To a large degree, yes, it is. I appreciate you saying that, sir. Although I don’t need you to like me, I do need to work with you and it will be a whole lot easier if we agree to set aside personal issues up front.
Kessler: Rest assured Lieutenant, I will give nothing more than my absolute best during this mission.
Venn turned her head back toward the doors, Jack refrained from saying anything more. Just as the lift came to a stop, she turned back to him once more.
Venn: We’re not all bad, you know. And I hope that by the time we’re done here, I can redeem Starfleet Intelligence in your eyes. Even just a little bit.
The doors slid open and she stepped out and paused, apparently waiting for him to guide her to their destination. Jack stepped out as well and turned to face her for a brief moment. Fixing his eyes on hers as if he was about to strike a target.
Kessler: ::in a lower voice:: I hope you do prove me wrong Lieutenant. I really do.
Jack did not really wait for a response. He turned and started down the corridor. As he marched off he tapped his combadge opening a communications line.
Kessler: =/\= Kessler to Lieutenant T'Fearne, Esign S'tek. Report to the Security Complex immediately. =/\=
He tapped his combadge once more to ensure the channel was closed and then turned the corner of the corridor and approached the main entrance to the Security Complex. He was going to have to put his emotions, his personal feelings in check around this SFI officer but deep down, he did hope she could prove him wrong, that all SFI wasn't bad.
((Security Complex, Deck 11, USS Ronin))
Having led Lieutenant Venn into the complex Jack headed straight for the briefing room. The room was large enough to house an entire security shift if needed, several large wall mounted screens and seating to accommodate. He pulled up the main briefing screen and then gave access control to Lieutenant Venn. The sound of the briefing room doors whooshing open grabbed his attention and he glanced up to see T'Fearne and their new Security replacement, Ensign S'tek enter the room.
Kessler: Lieutenant T'Fearne, Ensign S'tek this is Lieutenant Venn. She has been tasked with working with the Ronin on this assignment. ::beat:: Lieutenant Venn, this is Lieutenant T'Fearne, my right hand in Security and this ::gesturing to S'tek:: is Ensign S'tek. He just came aboard before we shipped out but I feel he will be a valued addition to this collaboration.
T'Fearne/Venn/S'tek: response
Kessler: Lieutenant ::gesturing to Venn:: If you would please, let them know what exactly we are dealing with.
Jack stepped back to give the floor to Venn and the control of the briefing console to her as well. Normally Jack would have handled all the briefing material to his team but in this case he decided it more important to let Venn have the floor and field any questions that his two officers might have.
T'Fearne/Venn/S'tek: response
Kessler: This is a great scientific discovery for sure, but as mentioned the safety of the ship and crew falls to us. With a power that this thing must project we need to know we can defend the ship even if it is from just the creatures natural biology versus a weapon. T'Fearne, has the Ronin ever encountered a biologic lifeform like this before?
T'Fearne/Venn/S'tek: response
Kessler: Ok, then we are starting at square one. ::beat:: options? Through them out no matter how crazy they sound. We'll weed through them one by one.
Jack picked up a group of PADD's and handed one to each of the team including Venn. The PADDs were already interlinked to the Security complex and would allow faster collaboration when they were not standing face to face.
T'Fearne/Venn/S'tek: response
