(( Outside Docking Port 2, Deck 6, Main Compartment, DS33 ))
The Alliance had been using transporters to pin down the Starfleet contingent, but what got Kiran going was the fact that, as far as they knew, their shields were still up on the station, taking a beating but still holding up. It could be one of two things: either they were using site-to-site transport inside the station, or somehow they matched the shield resonance, but if they had gone through the trouble of doing that, the shields of Deep Space Thirty-Three would be useless.
So Rork’s only conclusion is they were using personal transporters inside the station, or they had taken over one of the transporter rooms throughout the station; either way, it was damn annoying, and they were starting to pee in the Chief's cereal.
T’Fearne::: calling out:: New wave incoming! They’re pushing hard at the center.
Valo: Beam-ins are becoming scattered! Multiple locations!
Briza-Kar: Commander, I suggest we fall back to muster point 4. We can't hold the line here.
Raga: RESPONSE
Blasters continued to hammer into the barricades as the fight continued, casualties continued on both sides, but only the enemy seemed to keep producing reinforcements.
T’Fearne::: shouting to Kiran:: I can reposition the barricades if you cover me.
Kiran: ::laying down cover fire:: GO, GO, GO!
T’Fearne: Barricade moving now.
Breeze also started on the cover fire while the Vulcan hybrid did her work, as disruptor bolts blasted at her heels. Rork scrambled to a position with some cover, and they were pinching them and starting to pay for it. Breeze was right it was time to fall back muster point four.
Kiran: ::looking at Raga:: We need to get a move on, like yesterday!
Rork peaked up from his cover, firing his phaser rifle blindly, hearing it make contact. They just kept coming and coming. He’d been in scrapes like this before, Cardassians surrounding them, and yet somehow the Cardies would snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. However, it seemed to him that the Tholians and Sheliak were a bit smarter than the big lunkers.
Raga: RESPONSE
T’Fearne::: turning back to the bottleneck, redoubling her efforts to fortify their position:: oO We can’t hold this if they keep transporting in… Oo
Valo: Suggesting we centralize and get cover on our backs!
Kiran: ::nodding sagely:: I couldn’t agree more. Commander, what say you?
Raga: RESPONSE
A Sheliak seemed to materialize near them. Luckily, one of the new ensigns got a few shots in, and the Sheliak was gone in a very dramatic fashion.
Briza-Kar: We need to fall back while we still have a chance!
The growl from Breeze caught the old Bajoran’s attention, and he gathered strength from it. Rork turned and fired into a shimmering light, not only getting the Sheliak on the other side of the transporter beam but getting the one just materializing.
Kiran: ::smiling:: Two for one, gotta love it.
He turned to their twelve o’clock and let loose more phaser fire, taking down Sheliak and Tholian. This time, he reached for his EMP grenade, figuring if he could get that tactical grenade into the center of the oncoming horde, taking out a boatload of disrupters might give them the chance they need to fall back to the next point and regroup. At the last minute Rork decided to stow it for the time being, there was still a chance his side could get caught by the EMP, and that wouldn’t be good for anyone.
Raga/T’Fearne: RESPONSE
Breeze offered cover to his teammates, and they got into close-quarters battles as they began to fall back. Kiran hung with Breeze, covering the rest of the team; slowly, they started moving back. He could still hear the whine of a transporter beaming in another Alliance raider. Rork had lost track of how many bream-ins were happening.
Valo: Sir, we’re losing morale.
Kiran: ::looking at Valo:: Understood, but not the time. Rely on your training; thinking too much might get you dead, kid.
To the 52-years-young Bajoran, Senior Chief was within his rights to call someone just out of the hopper kid. He was one of the older members of Ronin’s crew and knew he was older than everyone in the engineering department.
Raga/T’Fearne: RESPONSE
Rork kept firing his phaser rifle, keeping up with Breeze. They finally came to the second line of defense. A series of barricades allowed the crew to take shelter behind cover. They were coming at an alarming rate, and if they didn’t get a handle on it soon, they would have to blow the station.
Eventually, they reached the second line of defense, further down the corridor. A series of refreshed barricades had been erected, allowing the surviving crew to shelter from the onslaught.
Security Officer: Get behind the barricade; we're setting off explosions!
Kiran watched as Breeze dove over the barricade. He shrugged his shoulders and, without being told again, dived over the barricade to seek cover. Once on his belly, he fired a couple of shots toward the bottleneck to suppress disrupter fire.
Kiran: ::a half smile creased the corner of his mouth:: I think it’s time to blow this popsicle stand!
Raga/T’Fearne/Valo/Breeze: RESPONSE
It seemed they had drawn the enemy into the bottleneck to get them into one position: in a corridor with explosives away from the first line, with the wounded right in front of the second line.
Once the team had been secured, the corridor lit up like a firework.
Kiran: ::covering his head and then peaking:: I can’t see a damn thing; anyone got a visual on the bogies?
Rork got to a knee and peered into the haze left behind by the explosives. At first, there was only the ringing in his ears, like most teammates. As the smoke and dust settled, the disrupter fire started up again. It was mainly Sheliak advancing on their position, it seemed the explosion had taken out several Tholian warriors, with the Sheliak behind them, now advancing on their position.
Kiran: Sir, that didn’t even dent their line much…
Raga/T’Fearne/Valo/Breeze: RESPONSE
While the commander was working on their next move, Rork again plucked and primed the tactical EMP grenade off his belt. He primed it, and the beeping started; he knew he now had about ten seconds to throw the grenade at the advancing line. Without hesitation, he stood, tossing the grenade before throwing himself on the deck. Hopefully, he’d pitched the EMP far enough not to affect them. It would take some of the power out of the corridor, as the blast radius was only five meters.
WHUMP!
The lights flickered further down the corridor, and the disrupter fire stopped momentarily; the EMP did its job and destroyed the Sheliak weapons and some of the Tholian exosuites. Their weapons were useless now, but they still advanced, this time swinging their disruptor rifles like bats.
Kiran: Orders, commander?
Raga/T’Fearne/Valo/Breeze: RESPONSE
