((Bridge, Deck 3, USS Ronin))

Wren stood on the deck, hands covering her mouth as she quietly took in what happened. Her concentration drifted, and a wave of panicked thoughts crashed over her, threatening to overwhelm her as everyone on the ship processed the news. It took her a moment to claw her way back through the grief and shock to her own mind, and her own thoughts, and she found herself surprised at the emptiness waiting for her there. They’d talked a lot at the academy about death. There was always a chance of dying when you were a starfleet officer, but still to lose a captain so suddenly…. She felt for everyone on this ship, that went without question, but…. oO You don’t have a right to feel grief right now. You didn’t know that man, but these people did. All you can do right now is make things easier for them by doing whatever they ask you to. Oo

Kel:  Ok.  Mr. O'Connor, Mr. Kessler keep scanning.  We need to know every particle floating around out there.  Anything that could give us a clue as to what's going on.  ::Turning::  Ensign Wren see what you can do to boost our sensor strengh.

Wren: ::quietly:: Aye sir.

Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Kel: You can pull power from the auxillary systems if you need to but don't take down any major systems without checking first.

Wren nodded, pausing for a moment to think. oO I could send out some of the sensor probes to do a three-dimensional scan of the area that would be more in-depth than the ship’s scanners. Oo Wren pulled up the release function on the console, tapping in the necessary instructions to create a three-dimensional field.

Wren: I’m releasing sensor probes. In about three minutes I’ll be able to give you a report on anything out of the ordinary.

Kel/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Wren watched the three little blips onscreen as the probes entered space. Somewhere behind her, she could hear other officers still talking, discussing the situation. Wren hadn’t been on the bridge when the incident had occurred, so she hadn’t seen the captain’s final attempt at a message. But she remembered the feeling of shock and fear suddenly pressing against her mental walls. For a moment, she’d thought they might be under attack. Somehow, this felt worse.

Kel:  Shortith, look here on Karrod's neck and Toryn's shoulder.  There's some kind of injury, but it seems partially healed.  Are those burns?  Dermal irritation of some kind?

Wren wasn’t able to stop herself from glancing over her shoulder, catching a glimpse of the image they were looking at, before immediately wishing she hadn’t. She’d seen people die before, but the frozen image capturing their final moment felt much more morbid in comparison.

Shortith: Response

Kel:  We need information in order to formulate a plan so I'm willing to look at any minute details for a hint as to what to do.

Wren: ::Clearing her throat, uncomfortable at having interrupted him:: Sir? The probes are almost finished scanning the area. There are Chronitons, like we thought, but they seem to be moving in a sort of orbit around the area where the detonation occurred. None of them have been beamed aboard with the rest of the wreckage. oO They’re staying in such an odd formation… it’s almost as though they’re holding the shape of the ship itself. Oo

Shortith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Kel:  We have one goal.  Get Niac and Raga back and potentially save the Federation.

Wren maneuvered the probes a little more, finally finishing the 3D scan of the area, and started to recall them, when she noticed something odd. Leaning forward, Wren squinted at the probes on her screen, watching two of them make their way back to the ship like little ducklings. The third, however, was spinning a little drunkenly in the exact spot she’d left it.

Wren: ::tapping at her screen::..... buddy , what are you doing? oO Did I miss something? I thought I sent the right recall code. Oo Um…. One of the probes doesn’t seem to be responding to the recall. I’ve tried the standard code, but it’s not responding.

Kel/Shortith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Wren nodded, re-typing the command as carefully as she could, before pressing her lips together into a frown as the probe still didn’t respond. oO Is it stuck on a part of the wreckage that hasn’t been beamed aboard yet? No, they should have adjusted for that while doing their scan. I- oh. Oo

Wren: Sir, the probe appears to have vanished. I’m no longer getting a reading on it, and the ship can’t pick it up either. We have the completed scan from the two that were recovered, but that third one is completely gone.

Kel/Shortith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Wren: Sir, do you mind if I go to engineering to check on the probes that did come back? If something happened to the third one, it might be happening to the other two.

Kel: Response

Wren: Aye, sir.
