Even as Marty strode out onto the flight deck, he still couldn’t wrap his brain around the fact that he’d watched both his mentor and XO blow up and die. It was not on his 2403 bingo card, that’s for sure. He kept a brisk pace as he headed to the rear of the shuttle bay. It was a through-and-through flight deck; he chose the rear, to be away from most flight ops, and they had some deck to play with. He looked up from the deck to see more of the Kurosawa being beamed into the bay. The goal here was to basically recreate the Captain’s Yacht and figure out how the explosion came about, and whether there was any way the captain or the executive officer could have avoided it.
He kept walking and tapped his combadge.
Tucker: Lieutenants Evinrude and Nemes report to the flight deck immediately.
Standing near the wreckage as it beamed in was Major Singh. This was her flight deck. She served as the CAG and CO of a small cadre of Starfleet Marines. She stood there silent. Marty decided to make a little noise so he wouldn’t startle the Marine CO, who seemed lost in thought.
Tucker: Major Singh, glad you could lend a hand.
Singh: Response
He folded his arms across his chest and stared at the wreckage beaming in. He turned his head toward Singh.
Tucker: Have they found the black box? Or are we going to have to go search for it ::waving towards the starfield out of the back of the Ronin:: out there..?
Singh: Response
It was about that time that Nemes and Evinrude arrived on the scene, though they were a bit surprised to see Sybil in operations gold instead of her science blue. Either way she had a good head on her shoulders at least that’s what he heard from her superior officers.
Tucker: ::he nodded:: Welcome, Lieutenants.
Nemes/Evinrude/Singh: Response
Marty held up a hand and smiled.
Tucker: I know we’ve all got questions, but now is not the time. Right now, our job is to go through the wreckage of the Kurosawa with a fine-toothed comb and retrieve the black box. It hasn’t been found yet, and we may have to go out and look for it.
Nemes/Evinrude/Singh: Response
A lot of the wreckage had been recovered, but there were a couple more pieces to beam in. The next thing that materialized on the deck was Kurosawa’s, albeit torn in half, warp core. That was where they would get answers. What he wanted was the black box; it held vital telemetry.
Tucker: ::clapping his hands together:: Are we ready to put Humpty Dumpty back together?
Nemes/Evinrude/Singh: Response
