((Counseling Suite, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
Serin studied the PADD in her hand, checking to make sure she had the right time and location. A brief exchange with Lieutenant Shortrith and her counseling onboarding had been set up. She really didn’t feel one way or the other about counseling. It was just part of the process, one that she rarely needed. But she was glad she’d set this one up.
Her mind drifted back to what had happened when she’d first made physical contact with Narhelion. It had been more than a little disconcerting, and she still hadn’t been able to fully quantify it. Hours spent pondering had produced nothing. She had the feeling that one of Velis’s former hosts held the answers, but they’d been oddly tight-lipped. Well, except Elliya. She seemed to have scarcely noticed anything unusual about the whole situation.
With a sigh, she approached the desk to check in for her appointment. A woman in her mid-thirties sat tapping casually at the console in front of her, presumably doing file updates or some other task receptionists often did. The woman’s chestnut-brown hair was gathered in a loose knot on top of her head, and dark eyes studied the screen. Suddenly, the woman stopped tapping, and those eyes shifted to meet Serin’s. The look in them, combined with the soft smile, told Serin that she’d already know she was there, perhaps even before she’d stepped through the door.
Neris: Hello. I’m Neris. Do you have an appointment with the counselor, or are you a walk in?
Velis: ::smiles:: Appointment. With Lieutenant Shortrith, actually.
Neris: I see. ::grins and whispers behind her hand:: She’s a good one. Keeps excellent records, too.
She gestured to the comfortable seating area.
Neris: I’ll get you checked in. You can have a seat over there to wait until she’s done with her current patient. ::pauses:: I assume this isn’t a mandatory session?
Velis: Um. It’s an onboarding, so sort of.
Neris: ::grins:: Ah. Well, at least you're not here for a mandatory psychological evaluation before a court-martial.
A mischievous grin tugged at the corner of her mouth.
Neris: Not unheard of... but thankfully, they're pretty rare.
A couple of taps later, Neris returned her attention to Serin.
Neris: You’re all set. Lieutenant Shortrith will be with you shortly.
Serin somehow managed to conceal an amused grin. Shortrith. Shortly. She wondered if the counselor ever got that bit of ribbing from crewmates or patients.
She moved to the chairs Neris had indicated and slid into one, then pulled out her PADD for a bit of reading while she waited.
{{Mini Timejump}}
She heard footsteps moving in her direction, snapping her attention back to where she was.
Shortrith: Response
Rising from her chair, she offered the counselor a hand for the customary handshake. She really had been living among Humans for too long.
Velis: Yes. Good to meet you, Doctor.
Shortrith: Response
Velis: ::grins:: I’ll follow your lead.
Shortrith: Response
