Being pinned down by Tholians just meters away from radioactive sludge that would burn through their suits in seconds was not on Marty’s mission bingo card, yet here they were, five Tholians. They were outnumbered and outgunned, possibly. Last he heard, there were only three warrior caste Tholians on the moon to begin with, So these had to be worker caste that’s been turned into impromptu warriors. That’s when he started hearing the clang of duranium on duranium. Where were they throwing spears?
Marty had ducked behind an old metal crate that was ticking halfway up from the ground. Kessler and Evinrude had found their cover as well. He peered above the crate; the Tholians were spread on a line on the scaffolding surrounding the ladder, which they had avoided
Tucker: Call me crazy, but they're chucking spears at us?
Evinrude/Kessler: Response
Marty sank back down for a moment. At least they had caught some sort of break. He rolled to his stomach, still using most of the box for cover and shot one of the Tholians, who pitched forward and hit the ground with what sound liked something like breaking glass, only heavier.
The room went hush before BOOOM! An explosion went off exactly where the Tholian had landed when it fell off the ledge. Marty tried not to chuckle, for fear of freaking out Kessler and Evinrude, lest they thought the Engineer had lost his mind.
Tucker: Well ::beat:: that’s new.
Evinrude/Kessler: Response
Tucker: Yes, the exploding part. I knew the warrior caste did, but we weren't sure about the others, and now we do, so someone might want to jot that down…::he shot a crooked smile at Jack::
Evinrude/Kessler: Response
Because the Tholians brought sticks to a gunfight, they found themselves at a disadvantage. It didn’t take long for the trio to take them out, and they avoided getting caught up in the explosions. One, though, blew the entranceway to the tunnel at the top of the ladder, which could be to their advantage.
Tucker: Okay, give it a couple minutes to see if any more are coming to the party. The sooner we get this reactor to play nice, the quicker we can call it good and be back in our racks in no time.
Evinrude/Kessler: Response
