Knight: Hang with me here, Major.:: he keyed open the comm system to all fighters:: =/\= Valkyrie 1-1, Ronin actual, are there any other craft in sight? =/\=
The comm channel buzzed and crackled open, with Gra’vel’s synthesized voice. For just a fleeting moment, Gideon wondered if you could program her voice box to have a Southern accent or something from the North of England. Or have like a random setting, something fancy?
He shook his head and got back into the game as Gra’vel spoke.
Gra’vel: =/\= Scuttles shows no contacts on sensors but range is very limited near this anomaly. Advise S&R bird tractors wreckage clear and back to Ronin for analysis while Valkyries provide high guard. =/\=
The Major, for her par,t looked to the hologlobe and back to Knight. She then leaned over and keyed the commline open once more.
Singh: =/\= Confirmed Scuttles, advise S&R to rig for tow. Maintain maximum possible distance from the anomaly, last we need is another downed bird. =/\= Gunny, advise the flight deck to establish a class seven isolation field, full decontamination protocol. If we drop that hulk on the deck without it we'll flood the whole bay with Sencha radiation.
Knight: We can use the upper deck of Shuttle bay 2, turn it into its own habitat, for lack of a better word. She might not be salvageable. ::open the flight deck wide comm:: =/\= Attention flight deck, we’ve got a very wounded bird coming that’s going to be dripping Sencha radiation, so we’re going to park what’s left of the Shinano in Shuttle Bay 2’s upper deck. Drop a class seven on it once it’s aboard. Sergeant Apon, please lead the detail. Knight… out. =/\=
Gra'vel: =/\= Scuttles copies all, out. =/\=
Her disquiet at the situation only intensified as the wing maneuvered towards the tumbling Shinano, only too aware of how vulnerable they were with their sensors occluded and space itself a mire of anomalies.
Singh: Gunny, there is very little else we can do from here...but I'll be damned if I have to sit on my hands while more of our people die. Where's the Captain or the XO? We need to regroup and come up with a new plan for securing this area. Our small craft are too vulnerable to be operated safely in these conditions.
An alert brought Knight’s attention back to his console and the hologlobe; it seemed as though something was wrong with the adrift Shinano, which had seen better days at this point, it was starting to shift in and out of their space/time. It was an aftereffect of using a Sencha weapon, and if they had managed to shrink it to say just big enough for a mid-size battle cruiser and possibly fighters at this point.
Whatever was happening was starting to make his teeth itch. Gideon keyed in a few more commands, the hologlobe readjusted itself, giving a wider view of the Shinano and…where in the hell were the Valryies? They were there a second ago.
Knight: ::scratching his beard:: Well, from what I’m reading, there isn’t a ship out there at the moment. At one moment, we had the Valkryies on scanners, and then they were gone. ::looking down at his console:: Shit, we’re having an issue with space and time. The use of the Sencha weapon apparently ripped a hole not only in the fabric of space, but it’s also contributing to the temporal black hole that just got bigger.
Singh: They did what?
Gideon ran a hand over his face and sighed.
Knight: I think the word you’re looking for, Major, is disappear.
That was a problem with Sencha waves, or tied up and made into a weapon. It tore at space/time, which will also wreak havoc with subspace, and let's not forget the slowly but surely forming temporal black hole made everything sketchy.
Singh: Response
What really bugged Knight is that he was onboard and not in a shuttle or runabout, but that would be unwise the more he thought about. He looked over at the Major.
Knight: I’d suggest we shut down all flight ops for the time being. Between the chronitons, Sencha waves, and who knows what else, we shouldn’t be sending out birds in these conditions.
Singh: Response
Gideon kept running scans of the area, and no sign of the Valkryies or the S&R runabout. He had half a mind to grab the Major and head out themselves, but again, it would be a bad idea, due to all the crap that was going on with space, within their current sphere of influence. Some information came in through the Ronin’s internal messaging system.
He turned to the Major.
Knight: Just got some information: the engineering crew is going to fire off an anti-chroniton burst to try to push out the chronitons that seem to be mucking up the space around the Ronin and in this sector.
Singh: Response
Gideon shrugged.
Knight: If all goes according to plan, the pulse will not only get rid of the chronitons around the ship but should also bring our ships back to our side if they’re out of phase. That is my thought. The pulses should do the trick.
Singh: Response
