((Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

One of her nurses entered the room with a stasis container and she stepped over to take it from her with a grateful smile.

Avae: Thank you, Jamie! ::she smiled at the two doctors:: Someone order a pair of lungs with a side of spleen? Hold the relish?

Kel:  I take mine with relish thanks.

Beck: Over here. I'll take one of the lungs - put the spleen there on the tray and one of us will get to it when we can.

Avae: Yes, doctor.

Wyla stood by and assisted both doctors while they put the Captain back together without any king’s horses.

Beck: Like a glove. Just a couple things to attach, but we should be good to go soon.

Kel:  Kidney is coming along.  I'm gonna pass on chili for the next couple of weeks.

She smiled and couldn’t help the giggle that followed, thinking that their Captain would appreciate the humor being used as they worked to save his life. That was the sort of CO they had.

Avae: Vitals holding steady.

She announced after a glance at the monitor above the biobed.

Beck: Al… most… there…

While doc Kel regenerated the opening and checked the blood flow she kept her attention shifting almost constantly. The vitals monitor, seeing if either doctor needed a new implement or hypo, or even if either needed some water that she had in a bottle with a straw nearby. As Chief Nurse, it was her responsibility to make sure the doctors had everything they needed when they needed it.

Kel:  Kidney is looking good.

Avae: Confirmed. All of the connections look clean and vitals are still holding.

Beck: Okay. How we doing, V'Len? You gonna plug in that new spleen?

Kel:  Sure.  In Trill they go in just like a lamp.

Avae: Make sure you remove the price tag first. I really don’t want to have to see the Captain in here for a follow up surgery.

She watched as the small organ was placed in the proper spot and Doc Kel expertly closed the connections.

Kel:  Can you check the display?  Is the blood flow working?

The Antosian’s face scrunched slightly at the questions, as if she wasn’t already checking everything so the surgery went smoothly and the doctors could look like miracle workers.

Beck: Looking good here. I think we're close.

Avae: Confirmed, blood flow is slower than normal, but still within margins.

V'Len stepped back and surveyed the situation.  The new organs were in, the new vessels were looking good and the dead tissue was mostly gone.

Kel:  How are his vitals?

Avae: One thirty over sixty. Within normal range for Trill. BPM is eighty eight.

Beck: Response

Kel:  How long do we keep him in regeneration before we bring Niac back?  I'd say 5 to 6 hours at least.

Avae: Can the symbiont remain in Alyndra that long?

Beck: Response

Kel:  We should triple confirm that all the malconite is out of his system.

Wyla popped open the tricorder and ran several scans, while also triggering another cellular scan from the nearby console to run concurrently.

Avae: On it! There’s trace amounts of maleconite but it looks like it’s concentrated only in part of his beard. Scans are showing no maleconite actually inside his system.

Wyla pointed to a spot right under Captain Niac’s chin.

Beck/Kel: Response

The Antosian looked between the two of them and vehemently shook her head.

Avae: Ohhhh, no. If you want to shave part of his beard that’s on one of you two. I like my posting. But I’ll be glad to inform him which one of you did it.

The most innocent bubbly smile curled her lips while she bounced slightly on the balls of her feet and looked between them.

Beck/Kel: Response

Keeping her innocent smile she tapped her comm badge.

Avae: =/\= Sickbay to Lieutenant Syrex. =/\=

A Niac: =/\= Response =/\=

Avae: =/\= Please report to Sickbay in five hours so we can transfer the Niac symbiont back to the Captain. =/\=

She glanced between the two doctors for confirmation of the timeline, since they would need some time to prep the Lieutenant for surgery as well.

Beck/Kel: Response

A. Niac: =/\= response =/\=

Avae: =/\= Thank you! Sickbay out! =/\= ::she looked between the two of them:: Good work, sirs. I’m glad we were able to save the Captain. I don’t relish the idea of having to declare another CO dead.

A haunted look darkened the bubbly nurse’s face for a moment, before she bounced back and over to a cabinet where an impressive lattice of netting held back a well arrange army of Twibbles. The plushes all lined up as neatly as tricorders and hyposprays. She scooped out one of the feline-like furrballs, the tribbleified visage of her previous CO, Mei’konda, that was wearing a USS Ronin athletic shirt. The nurse, bright big smile on her face cradled it in her arms.

Beck/Kel: Response

Avae: What? Of course not! This is a surgical room. ::she huffed:: This is to brighten up his recovery room! It’s an emotional support Twibble and they totally work!!!

Her cheeks flushed adorably as she squeezed the plushie that was about the size of a cantaloupe, against her chest defensively.

Beck/Kel: Response
