Madalain expected to find the helm station somewhat different now that she's been temporarily promoted to lead helmsman.  She thought perhaps the view would be different or the various smooth consoles just a bit more shiny.  She had imagined that, with Lt. Cmdr. O'Connor temporarily off the ship and the whole of the Ronin under her complete and total control that things would finally seem less intimidating and that she'd feel like she had herself more under control, like everyone and everything would finally settle down and she could stop jumping and apologizing and second guessing herself at every opportunity.

Raga: Miss Nicolau. Let me know as soon as the crew is on board and all accounted for.

She nearly launched herself vertically from the helmstation at the mention of her name, her heartrate skyrocketing at this simple request from the XO.  She sighed to herself, shook her head, and tapped a few commands into a side console.

Nicolau: Aye sir, final groups are assembling now, transporter room reports they'll have them aboard within the next ten minutes.

She turned in her chair in time to see a nod of acknowledgment just as the recently promoted Commander Kel made his way to the bridge.

Raga: Good to see you got some sun, Commander. At least someone got to enjoy a party this leave.

Madalain shifted in her chair, the sunburn she'd allowed herself to get a reminder of why you shouldn't fall asleep on the beach on a planet with that many suns.

Kel:  I' m sorry all you got was disciplinary problems from Sickbay.  :: walking over to where Raga stood::  Where are we heading in such a hurry?

Kessler: Commander's ::nodding to each as he approached:: Where's the fire?

She shrugged and gestured back at the helm.

Nicolau:  Not sure sir...sirs...all the Captain gave me was a set of coordinates we're supposed to head for at maximum warp.  Do you know what's going on Commander..s?

Raga: Not sure, but it’s need to know. The Captain’s going to fill us in once everyone’s on board and we’re underway. Same for the usual ceremony. We’re doing it en route. A bit unusual for us barring distress calls, so whatever it is Starfleet Command has us doing it must be urgent. And the secrecy suggests SFI is in the loop.

Kel: ::unenthusiastic::  Great. ::pause::  Pity for the crew.  I had hoped to see some of them awarded for their performance on the Ross-580 disaster.

Kessler: ::nodding:: Or at least letting them get a little more fresh air.

Madalain spoke up almost without thinking.

Nicolau:  Or a few more cocktails...they mixed them strong down there...uh..sirs.

She blushed and turned back to the helm console, shaking her head at herself and busying herself with replotting their intercept course.

Kel:  Where are we headed?

Kessler: Any threat analysis I should be running Commander?

Madalain gestured towards the helm console and turned back to the assembled officers.

Nicolau:  We're supposed to be intercepting a Starfleet vessel already in transit...the USS Goodall.  Apparently they've been pushing their engines for days...we're not even supposed to decelerate to meet up.

Raga/Any: Response

Kel: ::shrugging his shoulders::  Not a vessel I'm familiar with.

Kessler: Nor have I heard of it Commander. Seems like we have spooks coming to dinner.

Maddy's heart skipped a beat.

Nicolau:  Ghosts?  Like those candle ghost things?  After our last mission I really hoped we get something easier.

Raga/Any: Response

Kel:  Looks like we've got about 80% of the crew back aboard.  Still missing Commander Tucker.

Kessler: Offensive and defensive systems at your ready Commander. Back up systems are showing at peak readiness if needed from a Tactical point.

On one hand she was glad to know that the ship had weathered the last mission well and was ready for trouble once again.  On the other much larger and more terrified hand she didn't want to think about having to use the phasers or torpedoes for anything other than a light show.

The shields were nice though.  Those kept them safe.  She liked shields.

She checked her own status displays and nodded to herself before offering a report.

Nicolau:  Impulse and warp drives are both standing ready sir.  Impulse reactor 3 had some power fluctuations yesterday but engineering believes it was just a bad relay.  Diagnostics read clear, sir.

Raga/Any: Response

Kessler: Agreed Commander.

Maddy shrugged as she watched the crew manifest slowly creep upwards, each new group beaming aboard within a few seconds of the last.

Nicolau:  Just crossed ninety percent sir.  If you'd like we could leave early and give the last ten percent a little extra leave time?

Raga/Kel/Any: Response

Kessler: Well, you know me. I sometimes just stumble into trouble.

Maddy giggled to herself a bit too loudly and then failed to cover it with a cough.

Nicolau:  Sorry sir...very...uh...dusty...at my station....

Raga/Kel/Any: Response

Kessler: ::turning back to his console:: I always aim to misbehave if I can. I mean behave.

Nicolau turned just in time to see their Chief of Security's face spasm and she briefly wondered if she should call sickbay.

Nicolau:  Are you ok Lieutenant?  Like...in your face?  I can get a medical team up here if you're smelling burnt toast.

Raga/Kel/Any: Response
