Knight: It’s all about logistics, Hicks, I swear. One person doesn’t get what they need, and it sets off a cascade that would screw up the supply chain. :::throwing his hands:: once that gets messed up, good luck getting anything, the fleet would crawl to a halt.
Gunnery Sergeant Gideon Knight had scheduled himself for the night shift; he found it a bit more relaxing, and he could get a great amount of work done in the wee hours of the morning. He’d just been explaining to Corporal Hicks that the fleet runs on the Quartermaster.
Hicks: You’re kidding, right? We’ve got to have a back up pl—-
Hicks was cut off by an alarm beeping from the console in front of him. He looked down, then over to Knight, then back to the console and the display, and he sent the information to the Gunny’s console. This got Knights' attention, as he brought up the data on the holo-display right in the middle of Ops.
Gideon got out of his seat and headed to the display. If the scans from the sweeps were to be believed, they might have just found the Sojourn.
Next step, wake the Major up.
oO Sigh… Oo
He tapped his combadge.
Knight: Gunny to Major Singh.
Singh: =/\= Response =/\=
Yup, he’d woken her from a dead sleep. He hated to do it, but protocol said: wake your CO up if it’s important; if you're lucky, they cut you some slack; if not, you just deal with it.
Knight: Yes, ma’am, I’m fully aware that it’s 0335, but it’s the Sojourn, ma’am, think we found it.
Singh: =/\= Response =/\=
Knight: Yes, Major, it’s an older code, but it still checks out.
Gideon walked halfway around the holo-table and rubbed his chin. The transponder code was from yesterday; they roll it out every other day on every ship in the bay.
Singh: =/\= Response =/\=
Knight: Good call, Major. I’ll wait until you get here. Knight…out.
He tapped his combadge to close the channel. Now it was time figure out what hell is going on.
