(( Outside Docking Port 2, Deck 6, Main Compartment, DS33 ))
They were getting a rhythm now as they held the line. Cecil crashed back down roughly after his makeshift squad of five sent a volley. He peaked back over the barricade at an idea.
Valo: There’s a bulkhead just over the corridor, it looks like it was damaged in the explosion. If we can give just a bit more coaxing, it could block their advance. Maybe not for long but, it could buy us time. ::He looked to Kiran and offered a mischievous smile:: What do you think, old man?
Kiran: ::turning to Valo:: I like where your head is at, kid. A couple of three-round bursts should bring it down and provide some cover. What do you think, commander? Bring down the bulkhead around their ears? Well if they have ears…
Raga: I concur with the Chief’s sentiment. Good eye, Ensign. ::He turned to Kiran:: Yes. We can wait until their next push and drop it on them for a bit of a psychological impact.
T’Fearne: Response
Briza-Kar: Looks like they may have tired of being the target in practice? :: nods towards them :: They’re setting up a defensive position for now. Or plotting their next move.
Cecil let himself relax for a moment as the assault eased up. He looked at T’Fearne with a small smile and wondered about her telepathic capabilities.
Valo: ~Hell of a first day~
T’Fearne: Response (if any)
Kiran: ::mostly to himself, running a hand through his salt and pepper hair:: No one told me Tholians explode, I mean…? They were nasty alive, but even more so after death.
Raga: It’s unexpected, and will make them even more dangerous in close quarters. So everyone be mindful when you’re fighting them hand to hand. ::He looked at them all:: We’re falling back to the FOP for now. I doubt this lull will last for long.
Valo: Bittersweet. The longer our reprieve the more time they spend preparing an offense.
T’Fearne: response
The Betazoid hadn’t known exactly what to expect on his first day as a Starfleet officer. Sure, he figured it would be busy, active, and a bit stressful. Who wants to be the new guy? Turns out he had vastly underestimated the dramatic stories about Starfleets ‘typical days at the office’. It explained the welcome calm in leadership. Still, hopefully typical days didn’t get much worse than risking life and limb while holding the line against an impossible force with little hope for rescue or backup.
Hell, if he survived this, the rest of his career should be a walk in the park, right?
