((Reactor Dome, Moon Sigma, Ross 580 System))
Esot: I believe you may have discovered a transporter room, Lieutenant. Which would be quite the boon, as we will soon require a quick exit.
Shortrith: Sounds like we will indeed.
The others seemed relieved. While the Cardassian did believe they were fortunate, however, the room had to be secured first. Moving to the corner, she peeked around the edge just to be sure there were no Tholians in the hall, then sidled along the wall to the doorway. The controls didn't respond.
Esot: This room is either locked or the radiation levels are having an adverse effect on the controls. I may be able to 'hack' through it, given enough time.
Shortrith: I'll assist where I can.
The Andorian was visibly sweating.
Zh'taan: Uh... I’ll stand guard then...
She looked at her tricorder, then dropped to one knee in front of the room's controls, stowing her phaser and extracting a small cable from the back of her tricorder. Shortrith connected their tricorder as well to help boost the signal.
Esot: Commander Tucker's team is much closer now - it looks like they've gone down a level as well. I would suggest–
A crimson beam sliced through the air, missing their group entirely but gouging out a small line into the wall behind them. Jino gritted her teeth, glaring at the direction the beam came from.
The Counselor swore. It was quite humorous.
Esot: We're not alone. I need cover to get this door open.
Shortrith: ::to Zh'taan:: Could you do it, please? I can't, it would go against my Oath to do so.
Jino considered pointing out that, through their inaction, the Klingon Counselor would potentially be failing to protect the lives of the other members of the away team and still violate the oath - but it didn't feel quite the right moment to get into a philosophical debate regarding nonviolence. Even more amusing coming from a Klingon, at least in her mind.
Zh'taan: Understood.
While the Andorian turned and fired suppressing fire, the Cardassian connected the cable to a port underneath the door's controller. The link was established quickly, and she was surprised to find the security for the door was… rudimentary, at best. Her fingers started dancing across the face of the tricorder.
Shortrith: It looks like we're almost there…
More suppressing fire from their companion, another crimson blast splashing against the wall near him, and Jino let out a tsk. Eyes narrowing, she ran her thumb over a particularly troublesome spot in the security code, then swiped it away.
Zh'taan: I hope so… :: continues firing and narrowly dodges the shot::
A small flurry of beeps and chirps emanated from the control panel, and the door slid open.
Shortrith: We've got it! Get in!
Esot: You're welcome.
She disconnected the tricorder and let the cable pull itself back into the device as she pivoted through the open door. She waited calmly for the other two to enter, then pressed a few keys on the controller beside the door after it closed. The green light cycled to red, and there was a hiss-snap as the lock engaged.
Shortrith: We should be safe here. =/\= Shortrith to Tucker. We're in a transporter room about one level above you. Any way you can get up here? =/\=
Tucker: =/\= Good to hear your voice, Ensign. We’re kinda in the middle of something at the moment. We’re trying to get this damn pump fixed, but we could use some backup. Can you come down here? =/\=
Zh'taan: :: Runs a scan of the room:: I am detecting the life signs of Commander Tucker and Lieutenants Kessler and Evinrude.
Esot nodded before speaking into the comm.
Esot: =/\= Commander, I don't believe that will be necessary - if we can get the transporter system working, we should be able to beam you directly out once your work is complete. =/\=
Shortrith/Tucker: Response
She paused a moment as Zh'taan walked the perimeter of the room, scanning further.
Zh'taan: According to the readings, this is indeed a transporter room, but the presence of ionic particles is rather low, there has not been any transport activity for some time… ::Pause:: I wonder… We should perhaps go down as well. If Commander Tucker and his team are in the reactor chamber, we should head there too in order to stop the Sencha radiation emission. What do you think?
Esot: I would like to see if I can get the transporter system working - it will make it exceptionally easy to escape the facility once the repairs are complete. The work I need to do will be handled remotely, so it doesn't matter much where I am to do it.
Shortrith/Tucker: Response
He stopped suddenly.
Zh'taan: Look, there is some sort of hatch in the floor.
He knelt in front of a hatch set into the floor, on the opposite side of the entrance door. Jino studied it a moment before looking at her tricorder.
Esot: That appears to be an alternative. If you study the layout of the dome, you'll see the tube that hatch leads to continues forward and down to the same level as the pump room. =/\= Commander Tucker, you may be able to find a hatch in the wall on the southern end of the pump room. I will attempt to disable the locking mechanism so your team has an alternative means of escape, should I have an issue getting a transporter lock from the pump room. =/\=
Shortrith/Tucker/Zh'taan: Response
Esot: =/\= I am working on it, I assure you. =/\=
Moving to the primary console, she set the tricorder down on the corner where she could still see the screen, then studied the controls. While they appeared to be Romulan, the layout was still generally the same as those she had seen on Cardassian and Starfleet ships, so it only took a few moments for her to understand what each button controlled. She nodded at the transporter pad.
Esot: I believe one of you will need to manually flip the switch to power on the connector. The console is in low power mode and appears to be fed from the pad itself.
Shortrith/Zh'taan: Response
That did it - the console flickered a few times before humming brightly, the lights on the transporter pad cycling slowly.
Esot: This pad is not particularly powerful - it appears the primary function was site-to-site transport capability, so the range is limited.
Shortrith/Zh'taan: Response
Her fingers danced over the console, and one of the monitors nearby displayed a layout of the facility, several other rooms highlighted.
Esot: These are the connected pads. I believe we can use these to initialize a transport chain that should allow us to beam directly to the Anna Pavlova.
Shortrith/Zh'taan: Response
Nodding, the Cardassian tapped her combadge as she worked on connecting the required transporter pads.
Esot: =/\= Ensign Esot to Commander Tucker. I am currently working on securing our escape route - how go the repairs? =/\=
Shortrith/Tucker/Zh'taan: Response
Esot: =/\= I can complete my work once we're back on the shuttle. Or I can complete it here from this console, if need be. =/\=
Shortrith/Tucker/Zh'taan: Response
