Wren: Okay…. I’m ready when you are.
T’Fearne: Then let’s continue. I’m curious to see what other creative tactics you will throw at me.
Delphina immediately dodged to the side as T’Fearne came at her, not giving her much time to think of an offense this time. Delphina managed to adjust, trying to make some space between them, and got a few lucky blows in when she realized too late that T’Fearne was coming in with her dagger. She tried to pivot her defense, but it was too late, and the flat side of T’Fearne's dagger jabbed into her side. Immediately there was a crunch, and pain flared in Delphina's side. Instinctively, she swept an arm up, managing to knock T’Fearne's arm aside, before she realized something was wrong.
The knife slipped from the security officer’s hand, and Delphina gasped as she saw green droplets on her hand. Blood. oO the starfish sample…. By the four, I'm an idiot.Oo
Taj’el: Are you alright?
Wren: T’Fearne's hurt! ::to T’Fearne:: I'm sorry, I completely forgot about that, are you alright??
Solana: Response
Taj’el and Solana drew nearer and Delphina immediately tried to remember what the name of the starfish was. oO The Farifay? That sounds right. I don't think it's poisonous, but it can't be good for anyone to have animal goo in the blood. Oo
T’Fearne: Sorry Wren, I think I broke something in your pocket. ::watching a trickle of hot green blood down her hand:: I think I got my blood on your uniform.
Delphina opened her mouth to answer when T’Fearne's gaze sharpened, and she moved smoothly forward. For a split second Delphina thought that she'd done something wrong, or at the very least strongly misinterpreted something. But then T’Fearne had her by the shoulders and was smoothly pushing her to the ground.
Another sharp pain jabbed in Delphina's side, but it was dwarfed by the discomfort of suddenly being Focused on. Then the single braincell that bounced around in her head sparked, and suddenly awareness bloomed in her mind, oO did…. I also get stabbed with the bottle?? Oo
T’Fearne: ::commanding voice:: Sit, ensign. ::Over her shoulder, to Taj’el and Solana:: Doctor, Senior Chief. We have an injury over here.
Blood was staining her uniform a bright red, and Delphina instinctively tried to cover it, shifting slightly away. oO okay I absolutely need to know if Farifay starfish are poisonous. Also I need to know if my blood is contaminated. The absolute last thing I need right now is to have something biologically horrific happen to me, because they will kick me out if I turn into a starfish monster in the transporter. Oo
Taj’el: What happened? Ensign Wren, I am going to carefully roll up your shirt to assess the wound.
Wren: ::doing a horrible job of hiding her anxiety about turning into a starfish:: okay! T’Fearne, I'm so sorry, I forgot that was there.
Solana: Response
Next thing Delphina knew she was lying on her back with her shirt slightly pulled up, and she knew her face had turned bright red in embarrassment as the new doctor examined her. oO I am so glad I went with the detachable shirt section when I made this, because if they had to cut it open I would never live that down…Oo
Taj’el paused for a moment, and Delphina had to bite back the urge to ask them if it looked bad. Because she knew from experience that whether an injury looked bad or not was basically meaningless. Head wounds bled a lot, but could be harmless. Sometimes what looked like a bruise on an Andorian was actually a sign of internal damage. They couldn't gauge how bad something was just by looking at it.
T’Fearne: I hit her side with a hilt strike and something on the ensign’s person shattered. ::Showing her own green blooded hand with a clear shard sprouting from her knuckle:: What was in your pocket Delphina?
Taj’el: Officer Solana, can you retrieve my bag over there? I have a medical kit. You both will require treatment.
Wren: ::A little panicked:: The secretions of a Farifay starfish. I was collecting it because they’re supposed to have camouflaging abilities and I wanted to see what would happen if I put it in a vacuum. Actually, I was also planning to take it to Kel an-ow.
Delphina winced as she felt some of the sharpness intensify, then fade as she assumed a piece of glass was pulled out.
Solana: Response
T’Fearne: It is fortunate that we have the Doctor here with us. ::To Taj’el:: I’m glad you decided to come with me today.
Taj’el: It isn’t deep, more superficial in nature. I am going to clean the wound and then use a dermal regenerator. Do you require any analgesic for pain management?
Wren: No, I don’t think so, I- ::well aware of how silly this sounds:: It’s not- I’ll be okay to transport, right? Because, you know, accidents happen, and I really don’t want to be the transporter incident of the month.
Solana: Response
Distantly, Delphina felt the new doctor working, and she squeezed her eyes shut as she tried not to think too hard about what had happened. oO It’s fine…. These things happen, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about…. As long as it doesn’t give you another life-long telepathy problem it should be fine…Oo. She let out a tired sigh, before opening her eyes, seeing an offered hand. Taking it, she let herself be pulled to her feet, and she was surprised to realize that she did feel genuinely less embarrassed. The faces around her were kind, without a trace of judgement. They hadn’t even laughed at her ridiculous question, something she’d just gotten used to people doing over the years.
But they were looking at her like she was worth something, and that truly made her feel like she would be okay.
