[[Act 3 Start Kessler]]

((Bridge, Deck 3, USS Ronin))

The Ronin's bridge was quiet for the moment, except for the usual chirps and beeps coming from various consoles and or interactive displays the crew was using. Jack sat at his usual station working on a strategy on how to defend this massive space life form they now knew as Narhelion from the threat of the approaching Alliance fleet. He had been recalled to the ship a few hours earlier once the Alliance fleet had been detected and although his concern was the approaching threat, he was also concerned for one of his own security. Lieutenant T'Fearne had been wounded during the initial attack from the Tholians. He had not been given the chance to see her and he knew she was in capable hands but it still bothered him.

With the impending fight coming, Jack however was relieved to be on the Ronin's bridge, hands on the offensive and defensive systems. This was where the Captain needed him and that is all that mattered. Captain Niac made his way out of his office, his knee was in a brace but the commanding officer still took the time to stop and nod to each officer now manning the bridge, starting with the Ensign at Engineering.

Niac:  Mr. Nakada...what's the status of our repairs?  I'd hate to disappoint that Alliance task force.

Nakada:  Response

Jack noted the Ensigns response and Captain Niac's change in direction from the engineering station towards his own station at Tactical.

Niac:  Very well, get me all the power you can find...and then steal me a bit more from somewhere.  Mr. Kessler here is going to need it.  What's the status of our tactical systems?

Kessler: ::looking to Niac:: Not as good as I would like. ::beat:: By the time the Alliance fleet gets here we will be at about 80% offensive and defensive systems restored. ::beat, looking back at his console:: I'll do what I can to have it higher than that.

Nakada:  Response

His smile didn't falter as he tried to factor that into his planning.

Niac:  Can't be helped Lieutenant.  But I do want to make an impression on the Alliance...so I'm authorizing the deployment of our tricobalt devices.  I believe we had six in the armory the last time I checked so indulge yourself.  Remind the Alliance that we beat them back at DS33...and we damn well intend to do it again.  Understood?

Kessler:  Aye Captain. A lasting impression we will leave one way or another.

Jack had been over the weapons inventory several times and worked several different defense postures out in his mind but using the tricobalt devices had been off his list initially. They were strong and formidable weapons but key tactical weapons as well that he did not always plan on using. He would always allow the Captain to call for such a weapon rather than throw the request out there just to push the use of a stronger but limited resource.

Niac:  Mr. O'Connor, once Narhelion releases its tractor beam your job is to keep us between it and anything the Alliance is dumb enough to send towards it.  I realize those Tholian vessels are significantly faster and more maneuverable than us but they don't have someone with your skills at the helm.  Sound like a fun way to spend your afternoon?

Kessler: ::softly, almost to himself:: Best job ever.

Nakada/O'Connor:  Response

Jack glanced around the bridge at each officer and then back to his console. It was time to bring some hurt to the Alliance and slow their fleet down. Leaning into his console a bit, a smile creased his lips ever so slightly as he made several adjustments to the offensive systems.

Niac:  Gentlemen, you know what we're flying into.  If anyone wishes to transfer to the creature and take your chances there...I won't hold it against you.

Jack did not look up from his station nor did he look to the others. It was game time and whether the others wanted to play or not Jack was here for whatever may come. It was up to him as to how to deliver the opening strike. Would that be the Alliance or the Ronin?

Nakada/O'Connor:  Response

Kessler: Captain, I would like to recommend Mister Nakada prep the deflector dish for a sustained tachyon burst as the lead Tholian vessels enter striking distance. We know their shields are susceptible to tachyons and once we hit them with an initial surprise burst, we can take out the lead ships with concentrated weapons fire. Might make the main body of their fleet slow down and rethink their attack.

Niac:  Thank you.  Mr. Kessler...red alert.

Kessler: Red Alert. Aye.

As the command was executed and the bridge illumination changed from standard lighting to that bathed in the Red glow of the new alert status, klaxons throughout the ship sounded. Jack's back stiffened as he readied himself and all his knowledge of the Tholians and the Alliance for a full on, head-to-head confrontation.

Nakada/O'Connor:  Response

Kessler: ::glancing up from his station:: All decks reporting ready Captain. Lead vessels from the Alliance will be in weapons range in just a few minutes.

Niac/Nakada/O'Connor: Response

As the lead Alliance vessels closed in, Jack glanced back at Niac and gave the CO a slight nod. Would a warning do any good or would a straight up punch to their nose send a more relevant message to the rest of the Alliance ships? There were normal protocols for captains to follow but Jack was also learning that out here in the Alpha Isles, the luxury of those protocols were not always an option. His initial thought was to bloody the Alliance nose first but how would Niac respond in this case?

Kessler: Phasers and torpedoes at the ready. Tricobalt devices on standby sir.

Niac/Nakada/O'Connor: Response

Fingers danced across his tactical console, the smooth surface seemingly gliding under his touch. Commands entered and signals routed, the Ronin's targeting systems began a pinpoint sweep of the lead vessel. A clear act that should get the hostiles' attention and turn their aggressors from Narhelion directly towards the Ronin. As he watched the sensor readings, Jack was surprised to see that the Tholians were not diverting their course, they were ignoring the weapons locks from the Ronin and staying on their target.

Kessler: Captain. The Tholians are not changing course. ::looking at Niac:: I don't think they even care that we are here.

Niac/Nakada/O'Connor: Response
