(OOC: Hey, sorry for taking so long to respond to this scene. I’ll admit, I have no idea what is actually happening, it's been very confusing for me. Gave me almost a literal headache trying to figure it out, and I actively did not know if I had anything that would add anything even slightly meaningful to the scene itself. So I decided to skip ahead toward the most recent thing, or I would just lose all motivation to write at all. Sorry again.)
((Stellar Cartography, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
Dekas admittedly had checked out. Mostly making gestures, and sounds that seemed to suggest he was listening when he wasn’t. The grief was getting to him more than he wanted. But so was the headache of everything. He hadn’t had much sleep anyway. And there were Chronitons, and it wasn’t like they weren’t affecting the situation even if it was minor. He felt a little like he was in a few places at once. Not in a literal sense. At least he certainly hoped not given the situation. It was more that he was dissociating quite heavily. So, he had a headache, and it all just sounded like an echo in his head, or something far off in another room. But he supposed he had to be pulled back in by the fact it apparently wasn’t their Ronin that they were dealing with. Or their version of Niac and Raga at least.
Solana: Some version of the Ronin? The version of the recorder that found us? This isn’t from our Kurosawa. ::she nodded to herself:: That explains why the variance is off so much on this thing. So, we just watched another versions of all of us’s Captain and XO die horribly. Yar, I hope that there’s not another Ronin somewhere that saw ours go out the same way.
Perhaps it was the tiredness and the headache, but he had to stop himself from laughing at the use of “Yar”. He was at least partially certain it was in reference to some Security Chief from one of the Enterprise ships. But he almost hoped for the alternative that Solana just enjoyed talking like the Terran idea of a pirate.
Which he then felt bad about on impact, realizing that would seem maybe a little stereotypical for an Orion, even if he didn’t mean a real pirate. Just a terran’s sea-faring ideal of one.
Dekas: I can’t imagine how that universe will feel without those people. Because if nothing else, they at least don’t seem like they were from the, ah, mirror universe? They seemed normal.
T'Fearne/Esot: Response
Solana set her tricorder on the floor and drew one of her curved knives from the small of her back. Were Starfleet officers even allowed to have this many knives on their person, especially someone who, while it was understandable in this scenario, was prone to throwing those knives into bulkheads in anger. But then the blade began to glow white hot after a few moments. The Orion then proceeded to carefully pry the casing off the black box. Which popped loose. The panel cracked in half when it hit the floor.
Solana: I really hope the data cores aren’t as geriatric as the rest of this thing is. ::she plugged in the data cable to the data port:: Alright, at least it connected. See if you can download the recorder data.
T'Fearne/Esot: Response
Dekas: Will do.
Jenta moved back to her previous console and looked at the data as the others retrieved it.
Solana: Some of the files in the black box match the ones the Captain…well, a Captain Niac transmitted. Should let us fill in some of the blanks from what we were able to get from that burst transmission of his.
Dekas: Let’s hope so.
T'Fearne/Esot: Response
Apparently, some of the Kurosawa’s computer files were still intact. Unfortunately not exactly helpful to what they needed. It didn’t tell them much about the final moments of this Kurosawa, or this verion of Niac and Raga. But Solana seemed to see something unusual based on her facial expression.
Solana: Hmm, I found a fragment of a historical file. Don’t think it’s related to anything but it adds to the evidence that this wasn’t our Kurosawa. Something about a Delta Alliance between the Federation, Klingons, Romulans and the Dominion to face some threat from the Delta quadrant. The file’s too damaged to get more. So we know that wasn’t our people….so how does that help us find our people and stop whatever calamity they were warning about?
Dekas: My realm of science isn’t based in quantum mechanics, though that would be very convenient right now if it was…
But such was life. Most of it was inconvenient.
T'Fearne/Esot/Solana: Response
Dekas: I think that makes sense.
T'Fearne/Esot/Solana: Response
Dekas nodded, thoughtfully.
Dekas: Alright, so what do we do about that, then?
