((lab 2, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
Calm had fully settled in since the departure from DeepSpace 33 and the return of Captain Niac and First Officer Toryn Aga. All the officers had returned to their personal duties, and Kelor had once again become a Lower Deck, without the pressure of possibly putting the entire Ronin in danger. The Andorian had been working relentlessly since the ship left the Ross-580 system. He was analyzing the data collected on the way to DS-33, observing other data gathered by the long-range sensors, checking the calibration of the sensors, etc., etc... Kelor was what one might call a lab rat, and he rarely left it. But most of his time was spent studying all the collected data related to Sencha radiation. He was wandering through the lab, lost in his thoughts as often happened, a PADD in his hands, when the chief science officer called out to him.
Kel: Ensign Zh'taan, do you have a moment?
Kelor had not even noticed that his superior was in the lab and jumped when he heard his name. He jumped so much that he dropped his PADD.
Zh'taan: ::stands at attention:: Uh… Go-Good afternoon Lieutenant Commander Kel. ::He awkwardly bent down to pick up the PADD.::
Then he gathered himself and realized how ridiculous the situation was.
Kel: Good afternoon Ensign. How are you finding the Ronin?
Zh'taan: I... I am finding my bearings. The Ronin has an excellent laboratory, and it is very well equipped. I can properly carry out my research. ::smiles::
It had been a long time since he had had real contact with a member of the crew. And besides… it was the first time he had met the ship’s Chief Science officer, who until recently had been the acting captain.
Kel: That's very good to hear. What are you working on?
Kelor lowered his eyes to his PADD, which showed no signs of damage. He opened several pages of collected data and read through them while explaining his research topic.
Zh'taan: During the last mission, I was several times exposed to Sencha radiation, either indirectly on the ship when I helped Lieutenants Dohna and Morgan escape the black hole, or directly when I went down to the planet. And I find this radiation very… interesting. ::He handed over his PADD:: Here is the data we collected in the system and that I analyzed.
Kel: Response
Zh'taan: Most of my research has focused on the effects of Sencha radiation on space-time and the disturbances it produces in warp fields.
Kel: Response
Zh'taan: When we attempted to stabilize the warp field, we discovered that distortion was impossible because of these disturbances, since Sencha radiation continuously emits chroniton particles. They desynchronize space-time and make it completely unstable. It was therefore impossible for the warp coils to activate properly. On top of that, the radiation produced an aging effect on certain materials. I am currently working on these phenomena in order to find a solution, starting with anti-chroniton particles.
