((Da’al Homeworld, Vman - Private apartments of Zeneth))

As she entered her apartment, Zeneth let the weariness of the past few days show on her face. She had confessed involving the Federation when Ypartin had been clear that their intervention was not part of his plans. But he didn’t have any plans, a voice in her head reminded her.

Zeneth : Well he does now, I suppose.

She wandered over to her balcony overlooking the glittering expanse of the capital, the faint aroma of street vendors still discernible from where she stood. A large avian perch stood at one end of the balcony, while two comfortable chairs and a small table was at the other. She was pleased to see a bottle of Vinian wine opened and chilling. Her housekeeper always seemed to know when she was returning.

A noise that one could only describe as a melodious screech hailed the advisor, and she looked up to see her pet, Perra, fly in from her latest hunt. Perra was a good hunter and found most of her own food, but Zeneth had a supply of treats for her beloved falcon. She watched as Perra ate her captured prey and idly wondered if it symbolized what would happen should the Klingons strike their peaceful realm.

She vaguely recalled that Klingons warships were called Birds of Prey. Fitting, she supposed, for a race that hunted down defenseless beings to consume them.

She sat on a small meditation mat in the center of her balcony, raising her hands to the Goddess. Vinia would be invoked many times over the next few weeks, she was certain. She began the usual chant to become one with Vinia’s spirit, closing her eyes and letting a stream of time’s great river flow into her mind. She could look backwards with complete clarity, seeing the history of her people, but seeing forward more than a day or so was much harder.

She tried again, to see how things could turn out for the introduction of not only Klingons, but StarFleet to her people. All she saw was fear and misunderstanding. This did not bode well, and she pushed her vibrant indigo hair from her eyes, breaking the connection to her deity. Not everyone believed anymore, but she would stay true to her upbringing that her grandfather had so carefully instilled. Vinia would help her find a way to protect her people.
