((Bridge, Deck One, USS Resolution))
As the away team returned to the bridge Jana nodded to her colleagues and turned toward the science station. The Melthusian was very dehydrated by that time, but she would like to seize the opportunity to run some atmospheric analysis while still landed on the planet.
She sat down and initiated a level one diagnostic before inputting the commands. While waiting, she took a deep breath and turned around to contemplate the Captain who she knew very little about. Jana had passed almost the entire mission on the lower decks that didn´t have the opportunity to meet Captain Kali Nicholotti yet.
Nicholotti: Mister Yalu, send a message to the planet and let them know to expect one injured Da’al with an unknown connection to the events that have transpired today.
Yalu: Aye, Captain.
Nicholotti: I expect it won’t be long before she is ready to send to them, if they need to make any preparations, this is their head’s up.
Yalu: They’ve acknowledged the message, Captain. I’ll coordinate with the Da’al authorities to hand over the prisoners when Sickbay sees fit to discharge her.
The diagnostic was concluded and she quickly inputted the requests to use the ship’s planetary sensor suite. The scientist was most intrigued by the high levels of UV and the strange visual contrast anomaly that she noticed when down on the surface. She had already thought about that, had elaborated a hypothesis, but she needed shreds of evidence and scientific data too.
Nicholotti: Let’s prepare the ship for departure. How are the repairs going?
MacNemar: Only minor details left, Captain. Engineering reports all systems are fully functional.
The first results were already coming when the Captain manifested her intention to take off Resolution. However, the readouts indicated the presence of small quantities of trilithium resin gases that she didn´t expect. Further analysis would be necessary but it would work better from orbit. Despite that, they ran a geological inspection on the nearby area searching for the source of such a volatile and dangerous substance.
Nicholotti: Good to hear. Let’s secure the stations and prepare for spaceflight.
MacNemar: Copy that, Captain.
Without further ado the engineer that could pass easily by a Melthusian address the whole crew about the imminent procedure.
MacNemar: =/\= All stations, blue alert. Report to code blue stations, and prepare for takeoff. The Resolution will be launching momentarily. =/\=
But before Jana could start the science blue protocol, Captain called her.
Nicholotti: Ensign Zicv, I am afraid we didn’t have the opportunity to welcome you more formally earlier. If you’d like to familiarize yourself with the Resolution’s science department, you are welcome to take leave of the bridge.
She stood up and came closer to the commanding officer. That was a little odd but understandable. The captain must have a lot of things to do and take care of and probably didn´t remind that she was transferred before the current mission started.
Zicv: Thank you, Captain. ::smiling:: But I´m around during all the current mission. I´m just a kind of shy scientist that enjoys more to work than talk. So, I spent almost all my time aboard working on those labs.
Nicholotti: Very well. We will be departing shortly.
Zicv: Aye, aye! ::nodding:: I´m finishing some planetary and geological survey and I would appreciate it if we could spend ten minutes in orbit at least. ::smilling:: It would be necessary to conclude my preliminary study of the planet, ma’am.
Captain nodded and allowed the scientist to return to her duties.
Nicholotti: Lieutenant Knight, anything out there we need to be concerned about when we leave?
Knight: It will all covered in my detailed report Captain.
Nicholotti: I think that means we’re good, but of course keep our eyes open.
Knight: Understood Captain.
Nicholotti: Perhaps now we might be able to, you know, do science or something.
MacKenzie: Science?
Zicv: oO It would be must appreciate. Oo
MacKenzie: Where are we off to, ma’am?
Nicholotti: Let’s head to 224. I’m sure we’ll find something to get into there.
MacKenzie: I’m always up for a good time.
Adea/Delri’ise/Knight/Sirin/T’Suran: Responses?
MacNemar: Captain, all stations report condition blue. Power levels are stable. Helm should have everything we need to lift off.
Nicholotti / Yalu / Any: Responses
Zicv: Captain! ::formal stance:: Science department confirms the condition blue. All experiments are suspended or locked down. Short-range sensors are fully operational and atmospheric condition is favorable for a lift-off. ::she turned around to present the last data:: The stratosphere layer above us is highly unstable with out-of-chart UV processes. I recommend reinforcing the shield as a precaution.
Any: Reponses.
