Sherlock: Alright, everyone did great. Hope no one's too busted up. Just remember Dr. Adea's office is just two decks away. ::pointing up at the ceiling and smiling at her own little joke:: Just some final thoughts, this is a very close in style of fighting. And like I said, almost no fight ever goes one hundred percent in your favor. Anyone that tries to teach you something otherwise, is selling something. If you're ever practicing this, don't be afraid to try and add in new things. If you see an opening to get in a hip toss, do it. A downed opponent isn't as dangerous. Ok, so now, I'd like to call forward Counselor Sirin. She's graciously offered to show us a few techniques from Vulcan martial arts. ::gesturing to her side:: Meidra, if you'd be so kind?
Sirin: Thank you, Lieutenant. There are many Vulcan techniques that are used for defense. We’ll skip the ones that use weapons until everyone has had time to acclimate to the basic fighting stances. I will need a volunteer to help. ::turns to Dwich:: Crewman Hamsan, are you up to showing a few moves with me?
Hamsan: Response
Sirin:
Thank you. ::turns to class:: Any fighting technique used to protect
oneself must be paired with the correct mental discipline. We believe
that one does not go into a situation from a place of anger or
retribution. However, self defense is a logical skill to have. This
first stance is a basic position in Kareel-ifla. ::turns back to Dwich::
Place your feet apart like this ::puts feet about a foot apart:: and be
ready.
Hamsan: Response
Sirin: The first attack is called a shiar-tal, it involves a swift sweep of the leg to connect to the back of your opponent’s knee, throwing them off balance.
Etan: ResponseAine couldn't help but wonder if this was a "normal" date for Meidra and Dwich. Despite Dwich prior hesitation, they seemed to go at each other, physically, quite well.
Dwich had seemed to catch onto what Meidra was doing and countered with a leg sweep of his own. Aine was impressed with the medical technicians ability to adapt, but wondered what Meidra would show now.
Hamsan: Response
Meidra seemed charged up as she clapped her hands together readying to go at Dwich hard this time.Sirin:
You are a quick learner. Okay, this next move is a bit different. You
grab hold of your attacker’s arm and twist while turning your body in
the opposite direction.
As Meidra moved to lock up Dwich's arm, the sudden sound of a bone snapping rang through the air and for a moment, the room was silent.
Hamson: Response
Meidra froze. She broke his arm. She was an idiot.
Yellir: I’ll go call sickbay ::frantically::
As Hallia contacted sickbay, Aine sat Dwich down gently and made sure he didn't move the arm.
Yellir: =/\= Ensign Yellir to sickbay. Medical emergency in the Gymnasium, Deck 4, section— =/\=
Sickbay: =/\= A medical team is on it’s way Ensign =/\=
Yellir: Sickbay has officially been called. They’ll be here very very soon.
Sherlock: Thank you, Ensign. Crewman, just stay seated until the doctors get here, ok?
Hamsan/Etan/Sirin: Responses
Yellir: Is there anything I can do? I used to be a nursing aide, I can do my best in the short time before the doctors get here.
Sherlock: I don't know. Can you tell how severe it is?
While no bone appeared to be protruding from the skin, a bulge was on his forearm near the elbow and Aine knew it couldn't be great.
Hamsan/Etan/Sirin: Responses
Yellir: Respone
Sherlock: Ok, not great. But hey ::beat:: at least it didn't get blown off right? oO Bad timing, Aine! Oo
Hamsan: Response
Any: Response
Within a minute, Doctor Adea came into the gymnasium with a nurse.
Adea: Response
Sherlock: Well, I was giving my self-defense class, and, um ::beat:: there was a bit of a training accident. ::gesturing to Hallia to tell the doctor what she knows about the injury:: Ensign?
Yellir: Response
Aine looked at Meidra and gave a slight shake of her head. It was Aine's class and her responsibility, and she figured the embarrassing details weren't pertinent to getting Dwich's arm treated.
Adea: Response
Any: Response
As the good doctor examined Dwich, Aine stealthily pulled Meidra aside.
Sherlock: Hey, are you ok?
Sirin: Response
Sherlock: It was just an accident. He'll be ok.
Sirin: Response
