((Deep Space 224, Promenade))
Vitor was wandering around DS224. He wasn't going anywhere in particular. He hardly knew the station so he was just taking a walk.
He stopped by a small place to get something to drink, luckily they had Terran coffee.
A familiar face in the crowd caught his attention, and made his way in his direction.
Vitor was glad for that. He was eager for some company.
And after all, he hadn't yet congratulated him on his promotion. When the young Lieutenant met his eyes he nodded and offered him a small smile.
Etan: Hello, Lieutenant. ::he said politely, clasping both hands behind his back.::
Vitor stood up from his seat, nodded in reply and smiled back. He hadn’t spoken much with Lieutenant Etan and it could be a good opportunity.
Silveira: Lieutenant Etan, it's good to see you
Etan: How are you doing?
Vitor shrugged and tilted his head.
Silveira: Admittedly I could be better. But it's going, thank you for asking.
Etan: May I join you? ::he said, pointing to a vacant seat.::
Vitor nodded and he sat down with an inviting gesture. It would be good to have a friendly chat with someone. The dinner went well, so did the group session. But he couldn’t yet put aside the way Sher and Tito treated him. The ride back in the Columbia helped dealing with the changes ahead. Helped him get some inspiration.
But that wasn’t his only problem.
Silveira: By all means, please do. By the way, did you enjoy the dish I prepared?
Etan: Yes, thank you. The chicken was cooked to perfection.
He smiled proudly. It was good to feel appreciated, especially now.
But Sher’s words still echoed in his mind. He would try and find a befitting conversation topic just for the Lieutenant.
It would be like a science experience. Fitting that the new Chief Science Officer would be his guinea-pig.
Silveira: Thank you. By the way, congratulations on your promotion. But if you wish to skip formalities just call me Sil. ::He went for a sip of his coffee and leaned back.:: So Lieutenant now that you Chief Science officer you should be eager to get back out there?
Etan: response
Vitor smiled and recalled his years as department head. It was daunting when Kali made him Chief Tactical Officer in the 118. Ops was a world in itself, and he always felt better when he headed the Tactical department in the ship’s he served afterwards.
Silveira: I am sure you will manage Iljor. If you weren’t talented or hard working enough you would never get the spot. What have you seen of interest in the Borderlands? I had quite a view in one of my missions on the Juneau. We surveyed a black hole circling a quasar.
Etan: response
Vitor leaned forward as he listened to Iljor.
Silveira: Really, that is interesting.
Etan: response
